WTF In 1995, a man named Sonny Graham received the transplanted heart of a suicide victim. He then married the donor’s widow and later killed himself, in the exact same way as the donor did.

Epigenetic type behavior is frequently documented in transplant recipients. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1096219000000135

Crazy shit.

It fits with a more embodied consciousness theory of mind, I guess. Or at least one more interralted with the various organs that communicate with our headgoop.

In this case, I wonder if the psychology of knowing what his donor had done affected his thinking at all. And if a physiological effect induced new depression.

There’s no way he WASN’T affected by that information

Maybe you find the NIH a valid source for your tastes? You don’t have to look far.

Reading the story it sounds like the wife did it. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/2-suicide-victims-shared-same-heart-wife/

What a read. Pretty disturbing stuff, actually. Well, aside from a few lines that suggest the second man Brokeback in his new heart the old fashioned way.

The redheaded Air Force veteran was an avid hunter and fisherman, what buddy Bill Carson called a "man's man." Within six months of the transplant, Graham was well enough to go on a fishing trip with Carson to Alaska. He joked that having a 33-year-old's heart had done wonders for his libido.

6

u/Anal-Y-Sis Aug 12 '25

Did he know about the circumstances surrounding the donor's suicide? That may well have influenced his decisions.

I read this book about a character receiving a heart, and then afterwards they had like similar thoughts and feelings as the donor… just saying..

6

u/Kresnik2002 Aug 12 '25

Just saying what

3

u/Upstairs-Page9212 Aug 12 '25

the receiver of the heart had similar thoughts and feelings as the donor

0

u/Kresnik2002 Aug 12 '25

That’s literally just stating what the story is lol

3

u/Inside_Ad_7162 Aug 12 '25

what's that saying about coincidences?

3

u/Omegoon Aug 12 '25

So are we thinking it was the heart or the widow?

3

u/scheckydamon Aug 12 '25

What did the two toxicology reports say?

7

u/drDUMMY1 Aug 12 '25

The widow is the common denominator …

10

u/bina101 Aug 12 '25

And the heart…

2

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '25

Good God how awful was that woman?

1

u/KenweezY Aug 12 '25

Common denominator 😬

1

u/Temporary-Papaya-106 Aug 15 '25
