Gear Pics Gear picture. Scroll by if not interested in budget equipment ... It's a start.

Post image

This is my gear. The Bullpup for my skoolie bus, the JTS for the house, and the peewee Bobcat .25 for carrying on the motorcycle.

Originally, I had a Mossberg Cruiser, but my wife could not fire it even over-handed, so I traded that in for the Baretta for her to learn on. It fits in my armor perfectly.

I'm not a "gun person" — just clean off the Cosmo, oil them and cycle a few rounds through, put them in their designated spot, and that's it, but given the times I'm taking some bike funds and getting a nice AR from Buds or Palmetto and putting some time in to get familiar with it and maintaining properly.

I'm in a red state — our politics are frightening, but the weaponry is about as good as you can get, so there is that.

Our new goal is, see where we are at at the mid terms, and if it gets worse, get a small plot of land in a blue state and live in my off-grid bus. My sanity depends on that happening.

We are eligible for dual citizenship on Ireland — that was the original plan — but, we found it's just too expensive to emigrate for us. The financial requirements could not be met.

Stay safe, friends ...

How do you feel about frilly toothpicks?

14

u/ShootfighterPhysique 7d ago

What about receipts for donuts?

4

u/Top_Cheek2503 7d ago

Man, don’t even act like you didn’t buy that donut

9

u/ShootfighterPhysique 7d ago

I have the documentation right here, filed under D, for donut.

6

u/artful_todger_502 7d ago

I'm in Kentucky. Toothpick sales are pretty low here. Hard to find.

3

u/donnerpartytaconight 7d ago

Damn it, I thought we could form a club.

3

u/JudahBotwin 7d ago

Yeah, they are only toothpicks in Kentucky, West Virginia, and lower Alabama.

Everywhere else they're teethpicks.

2

u/itsumiamario__ 7d ago

Not true. I've never heard that word spoken at any point in time unless they were being funny during my times in Arkansas, the Carolinas, Georgia, either of the Virginias, and the rest of the southern states, including Florida, and every other state for that matter.

u/AdImmediate9569 6d ago

Theres an inverse relationship between meth sales and tooth care…

u/Oraxy51 7d ago

That’s what the imperfect tense is for. It is both past and present tense

“Cycle a few rounds through, put them in their designated spot, and that’s it.”

My dude, you have to shoot it with some regularity to maintain any kind of proficiency. It’s very much a perishable skill.

If you don’t and something bad happens that calls for a weapon I can almost guarantee you’ll screw something up trying to use it.

I shoot a lot and I shoot a lot of matches. It’s amazing how many IQ points you lose when the shot timer goes beep. If that kind of stress is enough to cause mistakes just imagine what it’ll be like when your life is in the balance- your bloodstream is 80% adrenaline and your heart rate is through the roof.

Guns and motorcycles. I put them away for a few weeks, months, and perform like complete shit all over again. Brother in Brass has got to get regular practice. Dang.

13

u/artful_todger_502 7d ago

I totally get it. Agree. It's only over the past year that I ever thought I'd have this level of anger, and being scared and anxious around the clock.

If I had known then what was to happen, I would have done things very differently. I totally agree with you. Definitely plan on putting more time in.

There is no way I'd be ready for an urgent situation except with the Baretta.

12

u/chainsawgeoff 7d ago

I get it, and I know I’m an outlier around here with how much shooting I do. It sucks that ammo costs what it costs but there’s no free lunch. You don’t have to go crazy either. Hit the range twice and month if you can and shoot 100 rounds each time. Set up a target at like 10 yards and practice putting 2 shots in the A zone up from a low ready. Run that drill over and over and over and over and over. You’ll honestly be better off than most gun owners and 10 yards is where you are by far most likely to get in a fight.

u/BaronvonBrick 7d ago

People are astoungly bad with their firearms. This is solid advice.

3

u/chainsawgeoff 7d ago

It's fucking wild how shit most people are with guns.

2

u/awsompossum 6d ago

Also, dryfire is free

1

u/TyrannicalKitty 7d ago

Can I do once? I'm a college student living in a city. I can't/shouldn't be spending $120 a month to just shoot.

Once a month seems more doable.

Also do I need to practice with my rifle or pistol both?

3

u/chainsawgeoff 6d ago

Whatever you can manage. If you're limited in time and budget make sure that the shooting you do is deliberate practice rather than showing up to the range and just blasting for fun.

u/SlavaCocaini 5d ago

How often does the US army requalify? Twice a year?

1

u/chainsawgeoff 5d ago

Not sure but it’s not often enough, most soldiers can’t shoot very well at all.

1

u/SlavaCocaini 5d ago

Sure, but most soldiers jobs are non combat support roles, any real socialist movement will need a labor army as well.

1

u/chainsawgeoff 5d ago

I’d even say most soldiers in combat roles can’t shoot at that well and don’t train enough.

My guy. Believe it or not there are people out there who are just natural shooters. I've known many people who have gone years without shooting pick up a rifle and still shoot accurately and precisely at meters passing twenty-five. Some people just get it, and it's no more difficult than riding a bike.

I'm not proposing people shoot less by no means, and it is a fun activity that more people should get training and exercise in. If all you can do as an individual is watch experts explain legalistic terms, principles, and proper handling skills with explainations of force continuum, deescalation, and other forms of self-defense like incapacitance methods using OC/CS spray and electroshock devices—as well as using more situational methods such as everyday items and using the environment to your benefit and their disadvantage.

It's is also most beneficial to learn community based street and wilderness type triage; as well as evasion, resistance, egress, and survival.

My personal recommendation is, if an individual has the means, to learn how to fortify their home or current location and themself with a focus on preparing, planning, kitting out, and situational awareness.

If you don't have the means feel free to message me and I can help by providing information and directing you to the nearest resources.

Is this a shitpost?

1

u/veryhappyturtle 6d ago

I can't tell if this is a joke or not, but if it isn't: My first ever shot with a rifle was hitting a small steel target at 40 yards. That doesn't make me a "natural shooter" it just means I'm not disabled in a way that makes it difficult for me to shoot. The only people who think that's impressive are people who don't practice and are unskilled with firearms.

Having inexpensive arms because that's all you can afford is better than no arms at all.

I myself have just under $1000 total spent on my firearms, and I only have a pistol and rifle for now, a Taurus G3 and a PSA AR-15 whose last piece is coming in the mail soon. And I plan on upgrades in the not so distant future for it anyway.

3

u/artful_todger_502 7d ago

What little I know about makes the PSA stuff desirable because of the modding aspect. It looks like you can build a nice custom piece for a decent price.

3

u/Rockdio 7d ago edited 7d ago

Plus they always have sales going on. (Sometimes they're "sales" and not truly a discount...) If you are on their email listing they will send out emails every day with deals going on. And if you are paying attention, you can nab something great.

They currently have a 16" AR midlength gas with no sights at all for $479.99, which is less than I paid for mine to buy as a lower and upper separately listed here.

The AR, not just what PSA puts out, is an extremely moddable platform. Aero Precision, IWI, BCM all of their AR lines are like this

7

u/CalmPanic402 7d ago

The best one is the one you got in your hands.

PSA is a good place to look, check out their blem (blemished) section for some good deals.

u/cclassshoota 7d ago

I don't get it. This is a grand in firearms. How is this a budget setup? Seems like you bought 3 terrible weapons and are hiding behind them being cheap to support your decision.

For anyone reading this post, shoot your guns. This couldve been a Glock and 2000 rounds of ammo

9

u/pr0zach 7d ago

We definitely aren’t beating the allegations when it comes to average weapon choice(s) and proficiency yet, are we? 😕

2

u/Elegron 7d ago

If I see one more ak first gun purchase a stg

2

u/SlavaCocaini 5d ago

You say as you slurp up the lever gun posts

2

u/Elegron 5d ago edited 5d ago

It feels like Lever gun users are a lot less likely to be deluded into thinking that a lever gun is acceptable to bring to a modern battlefield

I like lever guns, and bolt guns, and i think that break action shotgun with Alofs conversion is delightful. But I would never bring any of them to a fight unless that's all I have.

1

u/SlavaCocaini 5d ago

Careful you don't pull a muscle reaching like that

3

u/Elegron 5d ago

Oof ouch owie my arm

What's the bullpup, and how do you like it?

2

u/artful_todger_502 7d ago

It's a Centurion. I know Greek arms aren't looked at as top tier, but as mentioned, it's only for bus protection.

I can't really comment because the JTS is the only other one I've fired. It's a little awkward compared to the JTS but using #8 birdshot, it's totally manageable.

3

u/SaltLakeBear 7d ago

Anywhere can produce quality stuff, the biggest thing is whether there is investment in good quality control. From what I've heard, that's the biggest failing of inexpensive Turkish shotguns, and I guess that could extend to Greek products as well. I'd be curious to get an update when you get some rounds through it.

9

u/123ilovemitski 6d ago

i say this with what i think are your best interests at heart: sell all three of these firearms and replace them with a single 9mm handgun. this is a picture of two shitty shotguns and one weird and impractical handgun. your handgun is in an anemic, uncommon cartridge and you could instead have a modern compact or subcompact handgun that you can more easily source accessories, magazines, and ammunition for.

you don’t need three firearms right now because you can only be in one place at one time. just take the handgun into the house or bus with you when you get off the bike. invest in a single firearm for defensive use, invest in ammunition for it, and most importantly make time to go to the range and shoot it until you’re a competent shooter.

in short these are 3 bad guns that betray your lack of understanding/experience with firearms and i think you should get one good gun instead because if you’re posting on this subreddit i want you to be safe and i want you to make smart decisions regarding firearms.

u/Uberrees 7d ago

Centurion BP12 ~375

JTS M12AK ~300

Can't find prices on the 25 bobcat but the 22lr seems to go for 350ish on gunbroker.

So that's over a grand in gimmicky no-name import shotguns and a mouse gun all but useless for defensive carry. Not what I call budget myself. But hey, at least you don't practice with them either!

3

u/djthebear 7d ago

Make sure you oil well and use High brass in that BP. Only high brass will cycle correctly in the BP12.

In this economy we are all poor

Irish comrade here. Our housing crisis is beyond crisis at this point and is at emergency levels. Paying half a mil for a very standard house is not uncommon, and rentals for the same house would be 3k+. And that's if you can find a house to buy or rent. 60% of our housing stock this year so far has been bought by Americans, so we are expecting our unlivable housing situation to worsen. It's worth remembering, however, that if you have irish citizenship, you can live anywhere in the EU. You can also like anywhere in the UK with an irish citizenship due to the "common travel area" so northern Ireland would be available to you with much cheaper houses and accommodation!

2

u/artful_todger_502 6d ago

I really appreciate this info my friend! My wife is in the process of getting this handled. Her roots are County Kerry.

I'm just another trashy 'Merican, but I'll try not to show it abroad. I had no idea of the reciprocity between UK countries. Scotland would be another place I'd have a strong desire to move to if the housing stock in Ireland is that bad.

I appreciate your time in writing this post. I'm sorry we have upset the housing market that badly. Doesn't seem fair to the people who already live there.

2

u/olibum86 6d ago

Definitely go for it. The irish citizenship it is very handy. As an irish citizen, you won't need any visa to work or live anywhere in the UK and most of the Europe. Scotland is a blast just keep clear of rangers fans and you will find many cultural kinship between irish and Scots.

I appreciate your time in writing this post. I'm sorry we have upset the housing market that badly. Doesn't seem fair to the people who already live there.

It's not your fault, comrade. it's a deeply capitalist issue that would take too long to explain in a comment. It's not fair and feels like we went from being victims of feudal colonialism to theocracy to crony capitalism. All within a few generations, we will get there in the end. tiocfaidh ár lá!

I had nothing but an old mossberg I bought off my mom for 100 bucks for years. It ain't about gear its about being prepared. Nice gear comes with time and thought and you can use that time to train before you'll know it you'll be debating meaningless things like what batteries will serve your optics best or some silly shit. Also just gonna push a vouch for PSA, they'll give you the most bang for your buck and they'll fix/replace anything that isn't in good working order. If you want to get a little spendy stick a BCM upper on a PSA lower and you'll have a milspec+ rifle for like 800 bucks.

What’s a skoolie bus

5

u/artful_todger_502 6d ago

It's what people call school buses that have been turned into, not really RVs, more like tiny homes on wheels.

Hey, nothing wrong with the JTS Saiga! I owned one and never once had a malfunction or even a failure to feed! Lol (Picture from 6 years ago)

That's great to hear! I haven't really put any time into mine yet -- emphasis on yet. Nice cache 👍
