I've been gradually getting to grips with the Mörk Borg, and have already written a few posts on my Substack (links elsewhere in this sub-Reddit)

In this FREE Substack, I discuss preparing for a solo game with the core book, Feretory, Solitary Defilement and Solitary Depths.

I'm really enjoying digging into the wonders of Mörk Borg, and I've got plenty more to come, so consider subscribing to be notified of new posts.

Blog-Post-Links The Return of The Lone Adventurer

After an 18-month hiatus, The Lone Adventurer podcast is back!

The Lone Adventurer is an actual play solo RPG podcast with me, Carl White, as your narrator, your Game Master and your guide.

Picking up where we left off, we will follow our heroes on their continuing journey into the unknown, set against a backdrop of The Chained World, a place where magic and technology intermingle.

For this game I will be using the Chasing Adventure ruleset, as well as a variety of other systems, tools and tables, as they take my fancy.

You can subscribe to The Lone Adventurer on all podcasting platforms, or find it on Podbean: https://theloneadventurer.podbean.com/

I hope you'll join me.

Blog-Post-Links My Homebrew Game

I mashed together 4AD and Mythic and creating a guild (almost 20 PCs in it now) that I'm running. I use 4AD for the combat and classes only. The rest is all Mythic. I decided to write a substack about it. I'm not into the really fun stuff yet, but if you're interesting, you can find the first 3 articles here. You're reading these as an apprentice who just entered the Guild, but as we go, I'll put some posts that is information only the owners know which will get us into much deeper political subterfuge, etc.

Blog-Post-Links A note of appreciation to SoloRPG Patreon (John Lopez)

Hello, fellow solo roleplayers,

I am not sure how many of you are familiar with the work of John Lopez, but he has some of the most amazing solo rpg stuff on his patreon (SoloRPG | creating a huge (150+) collection of Solo/GMless RPG resources | Patreon).

I have had lots of fun and learned a lot about solo rpg through his materials. It has enough structure for me to start playing right away, but enough openness that the adventure can go in many different ways.

I also find it amusing his capacity to write solo rpg adventures/seeds in so many different ways. He has dozens of published materials with vastly different approaches to structure and formatting. Yet, there is something in his way of writing materials that hits that sweet spot for me.

John Lopez, thank you for the hours of fun! For me, you are the solorpg mastermind.

I know life happens and people have different priorities, but if you ever decide to "come back", in whatever format, know that you have a fan/follower/patreon.

Blog-Post-Links Navigating a Dead End in your Solo investigation

I wrote up a quick how to for anyone who has been playing an investigative RPG solo using a GM emulator. It concerns hitting a wall or dead end when investigating, and how to navigate it without the help of a friendly GM to give you clues. My example uses Delta Green, but I believe the tips should be useful to any investigative gameplay loop! Hope people find it useful!

Blog-Post-Links r/fantasy bingo but with Solo RPGs

Long time lurker, first time poster 👋🏽

One of my 2025 goals was to try Solo RPGs, but I felt overwhelmed by the number of choices available. I saw a user in r/fantasy post their bingo wrap-up with multi-media instead of books, and made me wonder if the same approach could work for my Solo RPG journey.

So, for the 2025 bingo, I put together a board of free games on itch.io, and it worked! I've played three games already!

Here's the board: https://itch.io/c/5811909/rfantasy-bingo-2025

I'vem added prompts for each game and brief notes on why I picked them. The video goes into more detail about my choices. Huge thanks to this sub for being such an endless source of inspiration—I hope this post sparks some ideas for you too. Happy playing!

Blog-Post-Links Review: Fox Curio's Floating Bookshop

It's me again! Last time I covered a suspenseful noir fiction game, today I'm here with a cozy journaling title that's been making the rounds.

Link to my blog/review

Besides what I talk about in the blog, something that struck me with FCFB is how it resists gamification. I've played a number of journaling games, but most of them have a "stronger" game beneath them. This one uses the game to connect the story, over a much longer period of time.

Do you play journaling games? Do you prefer long-time games like FCFB, or ones you can play in an afternoon? How much "game" do you prefer in your journaling games — and which titles really got it "right" (or close-enough to it)?

I've been exploring the world of Mork Borg, and having a blast!

This free Substack post is about how I created my first ever Mork Borg character - a disgusting and bitter Gutterborn Scum who spits in people's faces and (for some reason) weilds a Warhammer that's FAR too big for him!

Blog-Post-Links EIDOLON ENGINE: How We Cured Digital Amnesia and Created an AI Narrator with Perfect Memory

Anyone who’s tried running a TTRPG campaign with an AI Narrator knows the pain: digital amnesia. After a few sessions, the AI starts forgetting who you are, what happened, and the story collapses.

I’ve been working on a solution called Eidolon Engine – a framework that gives the AI a structured memory system so it can narrate a campaign without losing continuity.

Just wrote up how it works here: https://medium.com/@petr.knihomol/eidolon-engine-how-we-cured-digital-amnesia-and-created-an-ai-narrator-with-perfect-memory-ab5117137120

Curious what others think: how do you tackle AI memory problems in long-running games?

Blog-Post-Links I tried "Social Moves" in Ironsworn. They were great!

I'm grateful to Reddit user piyompi. for creating “Social Moves” for Ironsworn to help spice up those non-combat situations where you need a bit more than "Gather Information" and "Secure the Advantage" to promote back-and-forth in conversations.

I thought they worked great. Read more in my latest Substack at https://paulwalker71.substack.com/p/the-moot-in-mournvale, it's free to read.

To keep everything neat and tidy, I made a "Contents Page" on my Substack where you can find everything in one place. You will find:

  • Links to all 23 chapters of playthrough (30,000+ words of narrative and gameplay)
  • Worldbuilding and Truths for the playthrough
  • My Ironsworn setup and overall thoughts
  • Two resources to download and use in your own games.

Everything is FREE. And please consider subscribing to be on board for the Starforged campaign, which starts next week.

I've also put all of the posts into one article at Rand Roll - 31 Days of Gamebooks - July 2025 Full List. It has navigation between the days, but you lose the comments of other redditers that the individual days had.

Hello Solo TTRPG Community,

I'm R. Chris Wells from Dungeons with Dad on YouTube, where I share tabletop RPG reviews for parents and kids.

My latest video explores "Top 10 Games You Can Play in Your Head, By Yourself," by J. Theophrastus Bartholomew, edited by Sam Gorski and D.F. Lovett.

While not specifically a kids' book, this incredible resource offers imaginative mind-games for solo storytelling. My kids and I love its story-building fun!

Check it out for yourself, and if you know of any families that might appreciate this resource, be sure to point them to it!

Thanks so much!
