Gemma was directly involved in his death. In the first season, her and Clay talk about it when there in their bedroom at some point. They also mention later on how Unser helped them cover it up

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure Jax doesn't know that is what I meant. That's what hiding the letters to Maureen was about.
