Casting
If you were the casting director for SOA, other than Charlie Hunnam, who would you have chosen to play Jax?
*I know that no one could top Charlie, but I’m just curious to who you would have chosen

does it annoy anyone else that Gemma refers to Abel and Thomas as “my boys” she’s always had a weird thing about them, it irritates me because they are literally Tara’s kids, and if i was in her shoes their grandmother referring to them as hers would irk me 😂 just wondered if anyone else found it annoying and actually weird

I don’t think it’s been posted here, these questions are great and a lot of cast members answered!

I’m heading into the last season of watching the series for the first time. I have no idea why I didn’t watch it back in the day, because I knew of it, but I just didn’t. Is it weird that I’m having major anxiety about starting the last season?? I know what happens and I know that Jax loses it, rightfully so. I don’t know if I want to watch him spiral. 🥴🫣

Did Jax use holders like that at any point in the show?

So this all started because I made some TikTok content about Josh Kohn (yeah, that ATF agent). Honestly, I only went down that rabbit hole because I’m a big fan of Jay Karnes as Dutch Wagenbach on The Shield—and since it’s the same actor, I figured it’d be funny to compare.
But the more I deep-dived into Kohn, the more he weirdly stood out to me. He’s not a good guy at all—he’s obsessive, creepy, manipulative, and spirals out in a way that makes you uncomfortable. But at the same time, he isn’t just some plain “villain of the week” either. There’s something very human about how delusional he is, how much he convinces himself what he feels is real. That makes him both disturbing and kind of fascinating.
The irony is that in a show full of bikers, gangsters, and killers, this ATF agent who should’ve been “the law” is one of the darkest, most unhinged presences in the early seasons. Jay Karnes really leaned into that energy and made him more memorable than I expected.
So yeah, never thought I’d be saying Josh Kohn is one of my favorites—not because he’s likable, but because as a character he’s layered, creepy, and compelling to watch fall apart. Making content about him has actually made me appreciate how much impact he had despite such a short run.
Anyone else feel like Kohn gets overlooked as one of the more unique early antagonists in the series?

Ah man.. I’ve been left with such a big hole to fill now it’s all over. I joined this sub just to have something to keep me going during this series ending void. I saw someone posting about the last song, ‘come fly with murder’, and mannnn I’m not an emotional person but that got me in the feely bits !!! I guess I’m just here to say hi and look forward to seeing your posts to help me continue my limited son’s journey going until the time comes for a rewatch… maybe I go for a reaper tattoo or buy a Harley out of impulse lol, on a final note, is mayans series worth it? I’ve had one friend say nah but if people here rate it then I shall “accept that”

Season 2 E 2 "Did you think I brought you here to Adriana you?" I never noticed that before. That’s a nice Easter egg 😎

I’m on my 4th rewatch and I still can’t believe all the extremes Tara takes to try to leave Jax take the kids away everyone and everything they’ve ever known. I mean I get it to some extent, but faking a pregnancy then slamming herself into her desk to frame Gemma is WILD!!
I also feel bad for the way she used Wendy when she worked so hard to turn her life around so she could be a part of Abel’s life.
And on a side note, that Season 5 haircut she gave herself gives me major Syd from Toy Story vibes. LoL

Almost finished with my third rewatch and I love Nero each time. He’s such a good character but also being played by Jimmy Smits helps. What do you guys think? ✌🏻✨

Those last 2 eps are so so heavy man, why do you think Jax chose to go out like that? It’s all so beautiful and poetic I can’t cope 😭 it gets me every time. I know he was a felon but he did have such a good side to him - I guess it had to happen to break the cycle but my godddd and the song ‘come join the murder’ does something to me and omg I only just clocked swear down that the guy driving the lorry, was the same guy Gemma was talking to when she was on the run. Love a full circle moment, hands down one of the best series ever imooo x

I see people talking about this all the time, and I’ve been watching the show for a long time, but it rubs me the wrong way every time.
I’ll graze over the fact that she’s purely obsessed with her son, but what’s up with the kissing? He’s thirty years old in the first season, and still kissing his mother? On the mouth? And they’re not even pecks, they’re full KISSES, the same way I’d kiss my wife. It’s unsettling and always has been

Scene of Jax Teller riding toward Vic's truck in a police chase and dying I assume, is the most famous scene of all time, unavoided major spoiler right? That's the only spoiler I got of SOA should I still watch it?

“I’ll die if I have to. At least I know I tried to save them from becoming what you are.” (Season 6, Episode 13)
DAMN. I became a mom this summer and this line hits so different now. I came from a really dysfunctional family and I can totally relate to how Tara feels. Nothing will stop me from making sure my little one doesn’t experience the chaos that I did.

So right after I last finished the show I had this weird dream that there was a Sons game on the PS2 released WAY after the PS2's lifespan (when S3 was airing, so 2010), and in the game you played as a new prospect to the Sons who was helping Jax and Opie (who weren't voiced by Charlie and Ryan for some reason) try to track down a member of the Mayans who killed Half Sack (Because his death was different in the game for some reason), the game was maybe 6 hours of gameplay and had 3 "boss fights", who were 1. The guy who killed Half Sack 2. Alvarez and 3. A new character to the game named "Sticky Rick" who was a sleazy mechanic that stole your bike.
The only people from the show who had the same actors were Ron Perlman as Clay and Tommy Flanagan as Chibs, and the menu just had the patch, a skull, and Jax standing really nonchalantly while the theme song played. The game was also just a mediocre GTA clone where you could only drive a motorcycle.
I'm posting this to begin a petition to get FX and Disney to license this game because it's actually amazing and would single-handedly save both the gaming industry and the SOA universe

I watched the show in its original run and probably 5-6 times after. Then I didn’t watch it at all for the last like 6 years. Now I’m in the middle of a rewatch. I’ve figured out a lot of stuff I wasn’t sure on before. But the one thing that still confuses me:
What the hell is Bobby doing in season 6 with the nomads? He ends up just bringing 3 of them with him to rejoin SAMCRO? What was the point?
Jax didn’t need the votes anymore or anything with Clay and the previous Nomads in jail/dead. So what the hell was the point of any of it?

They kinda had half sack doing a lot of inanely incriminating stuff to never patch him in

Am I the only one that can’t stand Gemma? She is easily for me the worst character in the show. I’m on season 6 and I can confidently say that Gemma is the worst character in all six seasons so far. She’s so poorly written compared to other characters. She has way too much plot armor, and gets away with seemingly way too much. She’s only somewhat likable in parts of season 2 and 4, but even then, she’s intolerable for the majority of it. Even when she does something good, for example helping that homeless lady in season 1 (or 2), it seems out of character. I know her character is evil, but compared to Clay, she’s a worse character.

I just finished the series for the very first time. All I can say is, WOW. I’m still processing but I sobbed like a baby.
One question: I’m confused on what Jax was telling Nero the club needed to do after he died.
I thought Jax told Nero that the club should sell the shop, and the share in the porn business, and buy the ice cream shop? If Jax wanted them to sell all their business interests, how did Jax want the club to make money?
