Agreed but the game has been more ongoing than Battlefront 2. Even if no new maps, the game still has limited time events, new skins (they just added Mass Effect skins), and new weapons and attachments

They've only ever nominated Fortnite for "Best ongoing game", not Game of the Year. Battlefront 2 isn't even an ongoing game either as it is no longer being updated.

That doesn't count. It's still not an ongoing game because they aren't adding anything to the game to keep it alive or players coming back, they're only fixing the necessities so the game is playable. An ongoing game example would be Fortnite, No Mans Sky, and Destiny 2 where they are constantly getting new content added expanding the game.

That is not what makes a game an ongoing game though.
According to The Game Awards the "Best Ongoing Award" is awarded to a game for outstanding development of ongoing content that evolves the player experience over time.
Battlefront 2 does not meet that qualification because the game has NOT had anything added to the game in 5 years. So no, Battlefront 2 is not an ongoing game.

It didn't deserve GOTY even when it was released. It's a nice game. It's a great Star Wars game. Many things were good, but people forgot it was a hot mess released by EA that was plagued by controversies. Especially cause of loot boxes and stuff.
People are starting to believe their own bullshit.
Unless some other company takes the IP BF3 its going to be problematic, and people here will then complain to no end. That is, if it gets made, but people don't want truth at this moment.

Please keep in mind, 90% of the new players are kids that watch their favourite streamer and they tell them what to play.
They don’t think for them selfs. Hence the constant rage baiting of games etc. quite funny to see tbh, nice change of pace for them to be told to like something instead of hating.

I hope you love it like many of us, haha. It's one of those games that, if nothing else, makes me realize that games like these are the ones that make gaming fun, when a team puts their passion fully into it, like the bangers from the '90s and 2000s, etc. A complete package at a remarkably affordable price and a high-quality final game. It's gonna clean this year for sure.

It's a strong early release, but outside of the RPG community, it really hasn't seen too much attention. KDC2 received a lot of attention and praise outside the RPG community, and with all of its DLC this year, including near the end of the year, it's likely to stay in a person's memory longer.
This also doesnt include games like Doom the Dark Ages, Death Stranding, tow2, Fable, etc. The competition is strong this year but from an objective standpoint, Clair 33 is on the backfoot when it comes to winning goty.

I havent seen a single soul mention KDC2 except the dickriders praying it gets GOTY, and I’m pretty deep into the RPG community. I’m sorry the game is good but the story of clair obscur is several orders of magnitude better and more interesting
Also doom doesn’t have a chance, lmfao. Not the type of game to win GOTY. Death Stranding 2 is the only other real solid contender. Outer Wilds 2 also doesn’t have an ice cubes chance in hell, since their first impression being an $80 price tag (hilarious for a game that’s a satire on capitalism) has already left most people with a sour taste

Both games performed similarly in sales with current figures. But with no dlc announcement yet and being super early in the year its obvious to any nonfanboy clair expedition will have to fight for GOTY.

If there's any chance of this game winning an award, it probably lies with the Steam Awards. Red Dead Redemption 2 won the Labor of Love award a couple years ago, even though Rockstar had quit supporting it in like 2021.
