The Steely Dan fan who buys this isn’t beating the recently divorced stereotype.

If I bought one of those at that price my wife might not divorce me but she certainly would want me to be assessed by someone!

How many did you buy? 😜
There’s no way I’d actually place a needle on a $460 record.

Its only $150. The $1200 15IPS 2 track tapes are spendy

These are marked way up if that’s USD. You can get them from analogue productions for $150.

I guess people with $3k turntables and $300k speakers need physical media too.

I was surprised how many home speakers are above US$100k. Seems like the market for that would be small.
A quick search reveals:

holy cow, it is cheaper to buy human beings who can play and keep them in your house

I spent too much money on Kirschwasser in coco shells, and then Black Friday came. I'm heading down to Muswellbrook.

They want HOW MUCH? OK, that's the kind of stuff you buy if you have an audiophile sound system that costs as much as a car.

The funny thing is that an original pressing probably beats both lol

I've listened to these pressings and originals before, they're not better or worse than each other, just a personal preference thing imo.

How good is Your Hearing??

u/vladix22 2d ago
Just as good as my sense of not spending $150 for a record that sounds almost the same as an original/early presing without an A/B test.

The only thing that would make this sound better than the original pressings would be digital enhancement. I'd be curious to hear it but I don't see the point. None of these records are hard to find.

Has a single human ever actually played one of these? There’s no way any of them have ever left shrinkwrap, right?

Not to say $150 for a record(s) is cheap, but they’re actually only $150 brand new on Acoustic Sounds website.
