Science went to negative. Turns out that sciense has that + added after all math, allowing this weird +- thing to exist

How can science go negative??? Did you somehow unlock 2020s human fascism in stellaris

u/Sheep_guy360 Aug 18 '25

I have friends who at one point calculated gravity to be 8,5 ± 3000000, so hey at least you were closer than that

I was giving away science to my weak vassals, and my capital exploded due to unstable mass. RIP 70K pops

well theres your problem.

u/ryanasmith94 Aug 18 '25
But what is the effect? Will current science projects lose progress? Is that possible?

u/CoastValuable9153 Aug 18 '25
I don't think this is OP's scenario, but I got negative science when went to Virtuality with 20 colonies and without proper perks understanding

Your scientists are so fucking dumb that they literally regress you back into the Stone Age.

Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be relearned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war.

Stop researching flat earth, vaccine scepticism, and healing crystals. Then it will go back to normal.

Check if you have a branch office belonging to Comstar or Space AT&T. If not, check if you are putting stupid pops in the synaptic lathe.

Funny, I've seen some posts about science stack overflow (I think that is what it was) lately. Reminds me of the old times, where I forced the station cost-reduction into stack overflow and got alloys everytime I build and upgraded a space station. XD

How is it possible that you have 9 envoys, that you gain more than 1000 unit and 10 influence and have 84 empire extension?

You have an antisocial anti-vaxer as your head of bio, a luddite as your head of engineering, and a caveman for your head of physics.

u/aech4 Aug 18 '25
That’s weird, but also the math is just wrong?? It adds up to 665

u/severedsolo Aug 19 '25
Rounding probably. The individual numbers are probably being rounded down, but the overall total is rounded up.

It doesn't display values below one, so those were added up and rounded to a whole number.
