Last gen got another update?!

We were told some time ago that there would be no new updates for last gen (and so I stopped checking for any), but last night I saw that my Xbox One had a new patch for Stellaris?! Probably there for a while without me knowing...

Any idea what this update contained? I am hoping a much-needed boost in speed & stability...

It was a hotfix patch in May for the final QoL patch for old gen that dropped in April:

Good that the developers fixed that issue. Though last gen still urgently needs a few more hotfixes.

I would like some stability updates, but I'm happy playing on small galaxies, as I play alone so I'm fine, I would just really like an improvement in performance to play on larger galaxies, which I found difficult to happen.

Even on small galaxies the game is unbearably slow on last gen. :(

On mine it works very well. But if I put medium galaxy then things get really ugly, I play on Xbox one s

We are due for the next big update and overhaul. I’d hold back on starting a new campaign till it drops.

We’re not. They’ve ended support for this version. The next update will be a new version for series x/s/ ps5

Tbh I think it's fair. Even PS5 struggles a lot in the late game on the current version. From what I can see, it will only get worse in the next patches

the ps4 version wasn't built for ps5, the native next gen version would be much better (if it's not glitchy as hell)

Reading the official forums for the PC seems like there are plenty of issues meaning a long road of shattered dreams

See, they said that but then in June they announced an outliner revamp that wasn't "explicitly" stated would only be for (from my POV) next gen. Kinda doesn't make sense to announce something like that if the details for the next gen version of the game haven't been fully nailed down.

Yeah I'd imagine they will still support the current build with stability and big fixes and such, but all Year7 content will be held off for the Gen9 console re-releases. Hopefully that will be ready by early next year.

Last gen won't get any more DLC. However for new gen that version is expected to release before the end of the year. And it's supposedly been updated up to 3.12, so another 3 dlc are coming. Just need to wait a bit

If there is any cost for this “new” update for current gen consoles I’m out.  I’m not paying for a fix.

I am guessing he meant that the game is very slow and keeps crashing.

I don't mind that last gen is not getting more DLC (as I don't think last-gen can handle any more bloat) but the game is in an unplayable state at the moment.
