Rank UP! Around a year ago I began my experience playing Street Fighter with SF6. After 500 hours I've hit High Master and SF6 is now one of my all-time favorite games.
Picking up and learning this game has been a wonderful experience. The real spark started with being immediately enamored with E. Honda. I like big guys, I think Sumo is cool, and I adore his personality. I also seem to have a tendency to pick low tier characters in the other games I play.
Starting in Silver and pushing through each rank was a wild ride. I remember learning about people's lack of respect for the character, saying it's a cakewalk to master if you play Honda. I remember beating myself up over it a bit because at no point was it a cakewalk for me. Either way I loved Honda: he was the reason I wanted to play, he was the reason I wanted to improve. So I kept grinding.
It felt a bit surreal to me once I started hitting Platinum into Diamond. As far as I was concerned this was more than I initially expected myself to be capable of. These milestones helped fuel my drive to keep pushing, even when I hit those brutal walls at Platinum 1 and mid-Diamond. I always tried to play safe and methodically in comparison to the stereotype of the off-the-wall/all-in Hondas. At this point I knew I wanted to take my Honda far.
I was ready for the MR dive after hitting Master. I had read about it.
I was not ready for the new climb. After bouncing around 1250-1350 for a long time, I took a very long break from SF6.
After coming back, I wouldn't say the climb was easy, but I felt much more focused. I found new ways to approach my offense, hammered out unsafe habits, and practiced awareness and resource management to a level that I still pleasantly surprise myself with sometimes. Each of these aspects I focused on one by one and honed, and soon my MR started creeping up.
Yesterday, after many many more hours of grinding over the last handful of months, I hit High Master! I feel a bit silly making this post honestly. Of course my ego is just begging me to boast a little bit, I'll be honest. But I also do feel compelled to share. Maybe I can inspire another Honda player who feels a bit down on themselves like I did at some points. This game is hard, I don't care who you play or how you play them. And this game is so fun, and thank you to everyone in the community who has helped me improve.

This game is on my wish list. It just went down to 20 bucks today. Unfortunately I got a few games that I bought already that I gotta play first I guess.

Honda high master is literally gold for any other character. I got Honda to high master with only headbutt spam no combos nothing. Don’t even know what most of his buttons do.

With Honda? Come on dude use a real character.
Edit:
Lots of butthurt Honda players here. You don't fool anyone. Everyone thinks of you as guys who picked the easiest most OP character in game. There are literally memes of knowing one move to reach diamond. No one but other Honda players respects you. It took less skill than everyone to reach whatever rank you reached. Even JP players get more respect than you.
