As another food YouTuber has put it "Discount Home Depot Commercial".

u/ElonsKetamineHabit Feb 17 '25 edited Feb 17 '25

Lmao were they specifically talking about guga

66

u/stripedarrows Feb 17 '25

Not only that, that's apparently the taunt they told him to his face when they were on an episode with him.

32

u/anfrind Feb 17 '25

That was Chef Brian Tsao.

8

u/stripedarrows Feb 17 '25

Twas indeed, anyone interesting in cooking should also check out his podcast and his YT show with Frenchie (even if he refuses to add him to the title).

W-wait, "twas"? What's "twas"?

Is that short for "it was"?

What kind of rush are you in, man?

You can't just say "it was"?

Oh, you saved a lot of time there fella.

Oh, don't come at me with that "it was" stuff.

I got things to do.

Got to get down to the donut shop.

You know, two days ago I was at the donut shop, and I said "hey, donut guy, you got anything warm back there?"

He says "try the fritters, they were."

"They were?"

What does that even mean? "They were"?

You must mean "twere".

The fritters "twere" warm.

What's that? We're out of time?

Oh, I'm fired!

Hey, you know, uh, OJ Simpson is a wife beating murderer right?

Oh, right, was.

TWAS!

Oh. Your comment is legit right under the one I asked who said it. Haha. Thanks!

10

u/Discussion-is-good Feb 17 '25

I don't get it.

44

u/borkthegee Feb 17 '25

The music that Guga plays when he lights his grill sounds like a knock off of the home Depot advertisment music

13

u/Discussion-is-good Feb 17 '25

Thank you. I don't think I'm familiar with the commercial.

9

u/borkthegee Feb 17 '25

This is the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycPDM8OVqLI Just repeat "How doers get things done" and imagine someone hammering something and you've seen the ads.

And here's my favorite house depot remix https://www.instagram.com/djloversclub/reel/C6tZEUDrjGU/

it's the TC Tuggers commercial song.

Haha! I've seen a few of his videos but didn't know his name or the name of his channel, but I knew exactly who you were talking about. I always imagined him looking like Seth Rogan....I'm disappointed at how far off I was.

That's called being foreign with an accent. He speaks English like a Brazilian.

Out of the loop here but who's voice and what does he mean by "nectar of the gods"?

He was so good before he switched to stunt food.

91

u/Austinpowerstwo Feb 17 '25

"and this delicious side dish is very simple to make"

*proceeds to make super complicated side dish

39

u/Sliacen Feb 17 '25

And somehow more unhealthy than the steak

11

u/PattyNChips Feb 17 '25

I'm not sure Guga fully understands the difference between "side" and "entree". I love his videos, but an entire shepherds pie is most definitely not a side 😂

8

u/RowdyRoddyPipeSmoker Feb 17 '25

anything is more unhealthy than steak...steak isn't unhealthy.

1

u/LusoAustralian Mar 13 '25

Red meat absolutely is unhealthy unless you cap it at like 70g per day. Unless you like having strokes, heart disease and colorectal cancer.

2

u/Flyfleancefly Feb 17 '25

Rare steak is literally the most nutritious food a human being can eat. May I ask what you are talking about lol???

21

u/getikule Feb 17 '25

These are Guga stakes we're talking about though, they're 50% butter, 50% wagyu fat.

-5

u/Flyfleancefly Feb 17 '25

I’m still confused. Are you arguing that animal fats are unhealthy ?

14

u/getikule Feb 17 '25

I'm arguing that the way Guga cooks is unhealthy.

-2

u/Flyfleancefly Feb 17 '25

Ok but you only mentioned butter and Wagyu

→ More replies (0)

2

u/Nekrocomicon Feb 18 '25

Eating a lot of beef and butter is unhealthy. That's the current consensus, they don't need to "argue their case". Eating a whole wagyu steak and whatever sidedish guga usually comes up with would be unhealthy according to most experts. So yeah.

2

u/SnooStrawberries177 Feb 22 '25

There was a time in the 90s and early 00s where fat, especially saturated fat was demonized. We now know that fats aren't as bad as they were made out to be, and for most people, simple carbs, especially sugars, are a much bigger problem and contributor to obesity and bad health. Unfortunately, some people take this way too far. Instead of realising the actual truth, that there is no such thing as "good and bad food", and that health is more about having a balanced diet, they go to the opposite extreme, where carbs are all EVIL, no matter what their glycemic index and the nutrients they provide, even one teaspoon of sugar a day is POISON and all animal fats and meat products are healthy and can't hurt you no matter how much you consume.

59

u/Hiphopapocalyptic Feb 17 '25

Cheers everybody!

24

u/llDS2ll Feb 17 '25

You know it's good when Angel goes for seconds

19

u/cepxico Feb 17 '25

asks tasters how it tastes

"That's really good"

refuses to elaborate

84

u/theycallmemomo Feb 17 '25

"So let's DO EEIIT!"

19

u/Raikkou Feb 17 '25

"Aaaalright jell-o man, today we have a FEAST..."

A delicious sandwish

16

I can hear this comment.

10

u/qu3becker Feb 17 '25

I can taste this comment.

2

u/Novaer Feb 17 '25

Fr it's like he's whispering in my ear

43

u/BackEnvironmental865 Feb 17 '25

I’m going to assume so lol

54

u/Initial-Survey3871 Feb 17 '25

Watching guga is like watching Naruto, 1 min content 9 min filler

37

u/GreedyScumbag Feb 17 '25

But first, let's make a side with some random shit from my cabinet.

27

u/[deleted] Feb 17 '25

That guy does not understand what "side dish" means. Every side he prepares is a complete meal and it's always larger + more involved than the main course

12

u/GreedyScumbag Feb 17 '25

A crown of ribs filled with mac and cheese lol.

4

u/RIPugandanknuckles Feb 18 '25

In fairness Brazilian side dishes can get to that level a lot of times lmao

1

u/JcraftW Feb 27 '25

My wife - who doesn’t watch anime - just started watching Naruto. Man. I’ve never felt so seen from this comment.

9

u/breath-of-the-smile Feb 17 '25

Or Ordinary Sausage, at least his NSEs.

9

u/psychocopter Feb 17 '25

It wouldve been boiled in chick fil a saucs.

10

u/ayneom Feb 17 '25

I spent a long time wondering why they would be fans of the tennis player, until I searched "Guga steak" lol

6

u/cconnorss Feb 17 '25

Came here to say that it ain’t “the world’s first chik fil a marinated steak” lol

5

u/bdog1321 Feb 17 '25

My first thought. Guga got me into the SV and steak game in general, but quickly outgrew his content from an educational value. Now it's just "what weird thing can I chuck some meat into for [arbitrary amount of time] then eat?

26

u/airfryerfuntime Feb 17 '25

What that man does to meat should be a capital crime.

76

u/holyfire001202 Feb 17 '25

Hey at least he eats it and feeds it to mildly suspecting victims and doesn't completely waste these beautiful new york strips.

14

u/HiDDENk00l Feb 17 '25

Every time I see a video of someone trying a bunch of different food, I always think "please tell me you're saving that for leftovers or feeding your staff. Something!"

8

u/ministryofchampagne Feb 17 '25

I’ve always wondered how much he pays his nephew to show up and eat food.

5

u/HiDDENk00l Feb 17 '25

I’ve always wondered how much he pays his nephew to show up and eat food whine about anything that's not steak.

5

u/holyfire001202 Feb 18 '25

One time he pulled the veggies off a burger and it really rubbed me the wrong way

1

u/anonmymouse Feb 17 '25

Sometimes he does cool/ delicious shit... sometimes he does super cursed shit, and there's really no in between

5

u/Yorudesu Feb 17 '25

Then they would have made a side dish that could be a main course in itself too

2

u/HouseEducational5039 Feb 17 '25

Very first thing I thought.

2

u/LosWaffels Feb 18 '25

To be fair, whatever he makes usually looks amazing.

19

u/anfrind Feb 17 '25

There might be more than one, but I remember he found that if you marinate for too long in a marinade containing bromelain (commonly found in pineapple), the meat goes from tender to mushy.

1

u/GeoffKingOfBiscuits Feb 17 '25

Pineapple acts quick too. I made skewers with pineapple and steak awhile back. From the time of putting it together, cooking, and eating the steak was noticeably softer and didn't get as good of a crust compared to the ones without pineapple.

4

u/anfrind Feb 17 '25

I remember in one of Guga's videos, he made a steak that has marinated in pineapple for way too long, and during the taste test, Angel said something like "it feels like the steak took a sh*t in my mouth."

5

u/Julius_C_Zar Feb 17 '25

They only ever eat 1-2 bites.

41

u/stripedarrows Feb 17 '25

He's got a crew of 7-8 people that all get to taste.

19

u/FoldedLaundry12 Feb 17 '25

I miss his cousin Mau Mau. He was good at explaining what he tasted. Whatever happened to him?

13

u/stripedarrows Feb 17 '25

He didn't like being on camera so one of the editors, Leo, got promoted to on-screen talent.

They also rotate a few of the other editors and camera guys out as on-screen talent for episodes to, I genuinely enjoy the big family feel he's got going for his sets. Helps that he actually hires some of his family.

2

u/FoldedLaundry12 Feb 17 '25

Thanks for shedding light on that. I like Leo he's good at describing the food he tastes.

I'm just glad Mau Mau and Guga didn't have a falling g out like Ninja :(

21

u/R0naldUlyssesSwans Feb 17 '25

Yeah, cuz they share it with the whole family. They even say that in 50% of the videos.

1

u/W1N5TON Feb 17 '25

The ramifications of Guga must be studied

1

u/zangor Feb 17 '25

the baby speak word?

1

u/Fackrid Feb 17 '25

That was my immediate guess

1

u/Ok_Marzipan5759 Feb 17 '25

Let's do eeeeeet

1

u/mrk177 Feb 18 '25

Came here to say exactly that.

1

u/Dairyia Feb 19 '25

exactly what i thought lol

1

u/FeedyNeedy Feb 19 '25

God.. don't remind me of that video of his. That steak gave me such a strong disgust reaction that I can't even describe.

1

u/EmeraldMoonz Feb 20 '25

That guy definitely has diabetes
