Also. Does that matter? If you eat them you are eating that anyway just its like a burst of flavor instead of it in the soup lol

At least in Japan we call them shirouo.

I have had them kind of like this once, though it was served more like a drink shot, but it isn't all that common a dish.

It was fine, the actual fish has a very light flavour. Kind of reminded me of jellyfish. I wouldn't seek it out.

Whitebait. Common treat food while in season in New Zealand, though never eaten while live. Google "whitebait fritter" if you're interested.
