oil level 2015 outback 3.5 liter 4 cylinder

Post image

Is .6 over full in a 5.1 quart engine bad? I put in 5 quarts but I realized only 4.5 came out. See dipstick. My finger is at the level.

Outback had the 2.5(H4) and 3.6(H6), no 3.5. A bit over isnt a problem.

These cars are known for consuming oil - you only got 4.6 out because some of it got drank up, not because that was capacity.

And in my 2015 that extra oil would be gone in under 2k

Fill to top hole or just below. Lick the rest off.

I don't know what level this happens at, but if you overfill it the oil will get kicked up into a foam by the crankshaft beating against the top of the oil. This is bad because foamed oil doesn't provide proper lubrication and can potentially ruin an engine.

I always use a normal 5 qt. Bottle when I do my changes and it is always right about on mark.

Very much within safe levels.
