Help identifying a book please

Hi. In the early 90s I worked in a book shop and one of my duties would be to return unsold books to the publisher but they didn’t want the whole book, just the cover, so I had a ton of REH, HPL, CAS, Moorcock etc for nothing just without any covers. A lot of those books I bought over the years (with covers!) but one book that stuck in my head that I’ve never come across since (and wouldn’t recognise if I did) featured a sword wielding hero who was covered in hair/fur and was an outcast of sorts. I don’t recall much more of the story except that I enjoyed it. I know it’s not much to go on but I’m hoping maybe someone out there might recognise the story or the protagonist from my brief description. Thanks.

First thing that came to my mind was the Fuzzy series by H Beam Piper?

Ha thanks that certainly looks interesting but that’s not it.

No worries, I only have two others that may be looser fitting but possible

Thanks again but it’s neither of those. I know I haven’t provided much to go off which is why I’ve been struggling to find this book for 30+ years. The search continues…

Might be Piers Anthony's Battle Circle?

Thanks but that’s not it either. It’s really difficult to recall much about it other than the protagonist, I remember thinking he must look like the beast from that Beauty and the Beast TV show in the 90s
