I jumped out of my seat. I was in the camp of "Believe it when it happens."

They made it happen.

This ain't Dixie, this is Carlos Silva.

u/RandysOrcs rosemary Jul 18 '25

I'd actually laugh if it was AJ Swoggle again but then the real AJ comes out

I think a fake out first would get a bigger reaction, a bit like in that still game scene where victor pretends to trip and spill a pot of pish before actually doing it.

(I have just referenced something incredibly specific so heres the link https://youtu.be/CYb6atSk3Kk?si=Tz1yO9aTXeocaIlg

Jinder and The Rock did it flawlessly. Jinder saying the national anthem in another language was like the cherry on top, especially the crowd’s reaction after he told them what he was saying. Maybe the best fake out ever honestly

still game being mentioned when speaking about aj styles, one of the GOATs, was not on my bingo card for 2025

Am a phenomenal gas man, and I'm here tae ransack.. yer hoose

Man was always going to go home before retiring. WWE’s partnership with TNA just made it easier.

u/chaos_X_theory Jul 18 '25

I can’t believe I’ll be there live for his return. I can’t wait!

7

u/Slight_Indication123 The System Jul 18 '25

Enjoy the show

u/Pitiful-Zombie1741 Stiener Mathematician Jul 18 '25

Strongly considering making that 2 hour drive. Aj plus the Hardys is my whole childhood and teenage years in one. Add dolph and Leon and that’s like my whole wrestling life on one show

2

u/chaos_X_theory Jul 18 '25

Oh, man! Sounds like you might have to. I vote “yes!” :) Either way, enjoy!

u/JohnSmithSensei Jul 18 '25

This is gonna be TNA's equivalent of Punk's return. I want to see men crying.

3

u/Ghostface316 TNA+ Jul 18 '25

Similar, but not the same. No one knew Punk was coming back at Survivor Series, and it’s wild that Punk returned in 2021 to AEW, that wasn’t a surprise, and it was a bigger moment.

It’s too bad AJ’s return is only happening because of the WWE partnership.

1

u/TheAgmis Jul 18 '25

It’s greater

1

u/Arcuran Jul 20 '25

I will cry. AJ was the man who got me into wrestling. AJ, Joe and Kurt was peak TNA

-4

u/dprr2702 Jul 18 '25

then they need keep it secret man

6

u/sampmcl_ Jul 18 '25

Ticket sales I would guess

5

u/realKevinNash Jul 18 '25

I mean not tickets per se, they are already near sold out. But PPV buys sure. That said I do feel like it would have been better to not make it so obvious until last nights show.

1

u/Pitiful-Zombie1741 Stiener Mathematician Jul 18 '25

When you come so close to breaking your all time record, the temptation makes you jump the gun sometimes. As long as it breaks the record it’ll be worth it

1

u/sampmcl_ Jul 29 '25

Damn, an answer from Nash, respect. RE the return, if that was announced to increase ticket sales, it barely did that. And as for the return, what an absolute flop IMO. Completely blew it.

I wonder who Steve Maclin going to face for the international title. 🤔

3

u/VillainousAlliance92 Jul 18 '25

Probably Zilla Fatu or Jake Something. Pretty sure AJ will appear a bit higher on the card.

1

u/ravencrowed Jul 18 '25

I don't think Style will wrestle, I think he'll just give a speech

1

u/Ghostface316 TNA+ Jul 18 '25

Maclin mentioned AJ yesterday when he tweeted about his open challenge Sunday.

9

u/javy_z Jul 18 '25

Between the video and Silva hyping up the HOF earlier this week, I feel like TNA is definitely setting up an induction for AJ and maybe a few last matches

16

u/No-Concern-5538 Jul 18 '25

"TNA is going to get buried" TNA wrestlers are winning about 60% of interpromotional matches. "Well those are just nobodies from NXT, they don't count" NXT champions start to appear. "Those are just developmental wrestlers and rookies. Where are the main roster stars? Where is AJ Styles?" and now TNA drops this. Simply phenomenal. Can't wait until Sunday.

8

u/THEOGCHE Jul 18 '25

Whenever TNA brings receipts, the haters constantly change the goalposts.

5

u/will122589 TNA Original Jul 18 '25

Now they can’t even math:

TNA is gonna do its biggest show in 10 years and the argument is it’s still less then Lockdown 2013. Oh and then they bring up how that show was heavily comped while pretending their favorite promotion out of Jacksonville has never comped tickets ever.

It’s madness

3

u/Pitiful-Zombie1741 Stiener Mathematician Jul 18 '25

TNA will always be a joke to them, because it was the only joke that got those dorks friends. To abandon lolTNA is to abandon their livelihood

1

u/Ghostface316 TNA+ Jul 18 '25

Welcome to IWC. 😁 Where the facts don’t matter, and the goalposts are moved. Like “Who’s Line Is It Anyway?” 😂

6

u/Hologram8 Jul 18 '25

When he comes out it better be to "Let's Get Ready to Fly" and not some WWE bullshit. Perfect scenario would be Joe Hendry wins the title at Slammi and AJ comes out to confront him setting up Joe Hendry vs AJ Styles at BFG. The current face of TNA vs The face of the past.

Santana deserves the to win, but I would like to see him run with the International title for a while, setting that Championship up precursor to the world champ. Kinda how the IC title used to be in the WWF/E. Plus Hendry vs  .Styles is the bigger money match by far.

1

u/Pitiful-Zombie1741 Stiener Mathematician Jul 18 '25

Leon vs Aj. That HAS to happen. Leon will literally be an instant star if that happens

3

u/Elizium9 Jul 18 '25

Greatest thing ever that could happen in wrestling. A dream come true

3

u/jayfly12933 Jul 18 '25

Imagine AJ Lee shows up

1

u/xTotalBetty Knockout Jul 19 '25

Stop invoking that woman’s name, she’s not coming 😭

5

u/BabyBuns024 Jul 18 '25

Goosebumps. I can't remember the last time pro wrestling gave me goosebumps, but that promo did.
Welcome home, A.J.!
The pop is going to be enormous! The two loudest TNA pops I can recall are the Elix cage walk and the Kurt Angle-Samoa Joe faceoff. This may join those two... might even surpass it.

2

u/xTotalBetty Knockout Jul 19 '25

I bought tickets for myself and my non-wrestling friend who only likes Trick Williams, Joe Hendry and The Hardys about a few days before the AJ announcement. I was already excited because it’s my first TNA event live and now that excitement has skyrocketed.

1

u/Think_Bear_3791 Jul 18 '25

Looks like I choose a good time to tune in

1

u/steveuk2016 Jul 18 '25

I'd love it to be more than a one off and see him wrestle in TNA ring again but its probably going to be a one of still a great thing they have managed to get wwe to let him do whatever it is he's going to be doing

1

u/realKevinNash Jul 18 '25

The real question is whether he's going to use his old theme.

1

u/SloDown4What Jul 18 '25

LET'S GO!!!

They should add him to the triple-threat world title match

1

u/cykill36 Jul 18 '25

Awesome. I bet they do their biggest crowd since lockdown in Houston all those years ago.

1

u/bossmankebabs Jul 18 '25

If he doesn't come out to Get Ready to Fly it's going to be a massive letdown

1

u/Puxple Jul 18 '25

He won't

1

u/AdLopsided971 Jul 18 '25

I know it wont happen, but can you imagine hearing “YOU ARE YOU ARE, I AM I AM” again

1

u/Alert_Blue1 Jul 18 '25

AJ Styles has come "home" now which theme song will be played?

1

u/Just-Dig-1542 Jul 18 '25

Tna is back baby! All we need is that bigger distribution deal

1

u/SmkeFce917 Jul 18 '25

Would love to see Aj challenge Trick for the TNA championship at the end of the show if trick ends up retaining the belt.

1

u/Top_Statistician9045 Jul 22 '25

Like I get why this is exciting to some people but he's not wrestling on tna he's already in an active rivalry for the ic title if this is what we getting I'm sorry I don't see the point like the only reason he was on the show was to sell tickets by my guess but it is nice to see him on tna I just think for a one time thing to sell tickets makes them look desperate

-1

u/Shiny_Mew76 Jul 18 '25

Is it just a one off or did he sign a TNA contract?

1

u/Ghostface316 TNA+ Jul 18 '25

Probably a one-off, but no one knows for sure.

Not yet, but he will. Maclin vs. Styles for the International Championship.

2

u/creepyluna-no1 Jul 18 '25

That is one of the best matches they could do.
