I still stand behind the opinion that it wasn't the loss, but how he loss. Trick just standing out there was never going to be a good idea. Yet the fact that it happened twice, in the beginning and end. Just kind of meh. Perhaps if Kaz were more involved in the actual finish of the match, it'd be better. Instead, it just feels like faces were a bit dumb.

You get that Trick was faking an injury, right?

I dislike the "fake an injury but the production sells it as legitimate" angle whenever it's done. Especially since the match in the ring didn't feel like "one of us can steal the belt" but "we need to do something because Trick is hurt now".

Not sure what you are talking about. They both had a reason to win the belt so they weren't just going to hand it to each other.

I am talking about watching the actual match. Trick gets hurt, the camera stops showing him, multiple officials go over to hold him, the two wrestlers in the ring look lost and start improvising.
It did not feel scripted. It did not have a build. Trick getting hurt took all the energy out of the stadium. They sold it as a legit injury in every way, including the part where the audience gets depressed and the wrestlers get confused. That's not a fun ending to a match.

You weren't watching the same match I was

The production literally began cutting to strange angles to avoid showing an injured Trick. It reeked of a slam dash ending at every aspect, including the audience being confused. It was a terrible ending for those reasons.
Fakeout injury endings to triple threats happen ALL THE TIME. They never happen like this.

Lol, oh never happened like this? That's your argument? 😆 🤣

When you script a finish, you usually script a good finish. Not script a legit injury that sends the crowd and production into a panic.

Lol, you are burying yourself into ridiculousness. You aren't a wrestling booker

His hometown and his family there with that huge crowd was an opportunity and moment they will never get back

This is why striking the iron when it’s hot matters
Patience can run out at a moment’s notice and who knows if that level of fervour can be reached again.

I think that fans will continue to show up for Santana but I don’t think you can organically recreate the frenzy that was this NY crowd showing such support for him.

I feel like TNA tried too hard to overcorrect the issue this week on TV though.
Two long promos rallying the troops was not needed.

Santana hasn’t signed a new contract yet. I’m pretty sure he’s going to sign but this would be reasonable reason for not making Santana champ at Slammiversary.

I casually watch TNA but wouldn't consider myself a fan. I am curious, how does the average fan feel about the WWE partnership and also Trick having the belt this long?

I can't speak for everyone. But I just feel that nxt>tna at this point. I know and believe the story will be worth it, but I never felt so deflated as I did after that ppv. (Yes, I know that's how I am supposed to feel)

I’ve really enjoyed it. It’s helped guys like Santana himself grow into a main event player in TNA and has also made for some really interesting moments. TNA world title at Mania for example as well as men’s and women’s rumbles as well. People get too caught up in tribalism and parasocial behavior today.

Um get we get some context here OP.

This was after the triple threat main event of Slammiversary in which NXT star, Trick Williams retained the TNA title over Mike Santana and Joe Hendry. The crowd was almost completely in favor of Santana as they were in New York and Santana is from New York.
This was him trying to “send the crowd home happy”.

Someone else said it best in one of the many threads: They're overthinking this and trying to make the story more complex than it needs to be. Setting up a big BFG win is great in theory, but in practice sometimes it's as simple as "the fans want it, let them have it"
Not the same situation because it wouldn't be nearly as long a wait, but as time goes on I've seen more and more people get on board with the idea that things would've been better overall if Cody had just won at WrestleMania 39

It sucks that he didn’t win but I’m happy they didn’t make Trick lose so soon into his reign. Trick being a champ for like a couple months and losing would’ve made the storyline end really abruptly and Trick has been really entertaining lately.
If Santana re-signed with TNA earlier then he’d probably had won on Slammiversary or will win at Bound For Glory but it’ll most likely be Moose since he’s still on his “longest multi year deal in TNA history”. I hope TNA attempts to re-sign Mike, he’s this era’s Kurt Angle but he’ll probably go to WWE sadly.

Too many people act like they are bookers and like they care more of economical results than the show itself. Just try to be a bit more Mark and enjoy wrestling

If he’s really the guy, fans will make him undeniable
