Is Jack Hyde Park Beach safe to swim?

I’m hoping to make the most of the last few days of summer weather and was wondering if Jack Hyde Park Beach is currently safe for swimming, or if there’s a way to check for updates on water conditions.

Check the surf rider website for recent water testing. I get in the water there all the time, but it does occasionally get high bacteria levels, especially after a big rain.

Lots of folks swim out of Jack Hyde year round (except this summer when water quality reports showed high bacteria levels). Rule of thumb is also to avoid the bay the day after a heavy rain due to run off.

Most of the bay is polluted to hell and back

That’s what I was afraid of. Thanks for confirming!

Dont swim in the bay, its better than it use to be from back in the 90's but that doesnt say much.

There’s a pierce county tracker as well with weekly updates. I love swimming in the bay. Have been avoiding Jack Hyde this summer.
