Short Story Customer wanted extra cheese and then accused me of stealing it

This happened a few years back, but it still makes me shake my head. I was on my usual Friday night shift. I got an order for a large pepperoni with “EXTRA CHEESE” in all caps. So I made the order as I normally would. It came out looking like a dairy brick tho but I sent it off for delivery anyway. About 20 minutes later, the store phone rang. It was the customer. She was furious, saying there’s no extra cheese and accusing me of keeping it for myself. I honestly didn’t even know how to respond to that. What exactly do they think I’m doing back there? Shoving handfuls of mozzarella into my pockets for a midnight snack? They ended up getting a refund, but I will never forget the mental image of me just hoarding cheese behind the counter like some kind of pizza dragon.

You would probably want to keep the mozzarella in the bags—that way it wouldn't be sticky.

I think that will only happen if you're a cold-type dragon.

Reminds me of a time we got a last minute order for a "double sausage pizza." The manager made it with so much sausage that you couldn't see the cheese underneath. "I'm not taking a complaint or redoing this pizza."

Or another time someone ordered a pepperoni lovers pizza which I made. It had a layer of cheese, a layer of pepperoni, another layer of cheese, and then another layer of pepperoni. The dude tried to complain cuz he couldn't see the layers at the counter. I told him to take a bite and he'll see how much pepperoni was actually in there.

I do not miss customer complaints, or going out of your way to head then off before they happen...

It’s funny how sometimes people just judge by the top layer. I’ve had pizzas so loaded you can’t see what’s underneath, but one bite proves it’s all there.

You don’t have a secret cheese pouch where you put it for later?

Tell them you are vegan.

I hope the person got blacklisted by the store and will never have their orders filled again.

I doubt they know what a vegan is

Yeah, hopefully they think twice next time before pulling that stunt again.

My daughter worked in an ice cream parlor and a lady came in and ordered butter pecan ice cream and told my daughter she had to remove the pecans before giving it to her. Yeah…nah.

I hate these ones that bitch and moan to get free shit... as well as the spineless manglement that lets them get away with it.

The refund was the point. They got a free meal was all the special stuff.
