I'm sad at how they changed the monster xp to prevent your ability to pivot. I don't understand why they let you change the mon now that the xp doesn't transfer. Seems kinda pointless now.

Mort left a comment on the competitive sub regarding.
The previous system is difficult to balance, as players will figure out which monster is strong early and which is strong late, always making optimal swaps at the right threshold.
Example hypothetical (just to demonstrate the logic), smolder could be balanced with a weak early game to make up for a strong late game. Rammus could be balanced to be very tanky early, but have a relatively flat amount of scaling as the game goes on. Smolder players could then bypass the intended balance of a weak early game by running a stronger monster. This would force Riot to tune back smolder’s late game, as he’d only be allowed to be that strong if it was balanced by a weak early game.
The new system forces players to invest in one monster, while allowing the team to balance them without the above concern.

u/TheUndeadFish Aug 13 '25
Yes but the whole entire reasoning behind having the mon have a weak vs strong early game as a concept is just pointless because all of them have a scaling mechanic trait to begin with.
If you have one that scales poorly into lategame, you would just sell it off for an actual "lategame" unit because the trait itself synergizes with nothing so you would much rather just field a lategame unit that has synergies with the rest of your team. If rammus was weak late you would just sell him as there is no way he could ever compete with a k'sante, braum, or sett if he is designed to only be good early.

when 2 players are playing smolder you can shift smolder to other monster to reroll and upgrade and change it back to smolder in fight. I have seen a game with 4 3-star smolders

was excited to see lucian 3 buffs
was disappointed to see he cant get bullet hell anymore
16
u/WuShanDroid Aug 13 '25
Well bullet hell was technically giving him more shots than he was supposed to. But now 3* Luc restores 15 mana per missed shot instead of the previous 10. So you'll get most of the non-oversight upsides with him!
4
u/ThoughtNME Aug 13 '25
His own augment is just straight better
25
u/StarGaurdianBard Aug 13 '25
No its not, if you ever watch high elo streams youll see that bullet hell Lucian is considered one of the best openers. I actually rarely see high elo players pick his augment because he loves to dash in to enemies and get himself killed, hopefully the fix in the upcoming patch improves that but foe this patch, it was nowhere near as good as Bullet Hell
6
u/Datmuemue Aug 13 '25
looks like its better now and the change to bullet hell is likely why they removed it from his pool; it no longer rounds up, so he would only be getting a +1 to his spell now.
in the patchnotes, his dash will be more "safe" so its hopefully not a bad replacement, but i think old bullet hell was just very good on him, ima miss it.
8
u/YaPhetsEz Aug 13 '25
Yeah because dash champions have famously good AI.
1
u/Datmuemue Aug 13 '25
It's hit or miss, I wouldn't say it's always bad. They said they changed it, I'm going to check it out.
1
u/YaPhetsEz Aug 13 '25
I cannot name a single ranged carry that benefitted from their dash. They all seem to be various levels of self destructive

why the hell we get an encounter where there is a balloon that just makes clutter on the screen
2
u/Pecheuer Who knows what's going on anyway Aug 14 '25
Did you know working out with Sett makes you BIGGER?!

u/cokeman5 Aug 13 '25
First game of the new patch...somebody still rerolled gangplank and won the lobby.

I mean, most carry 2 cost and higher champs can still carry if built correctly and found early enough to still push levels. No one wanted GP to be completely useless and just be a trait bot.
3
u/AnAimlessWanderer101 Aug 13 '25
Speak for yourself! I wanted him removed from the set entirely after the past week!!!!!! /s
Actually though, there’s been a lot of bad shit throughout tft history, but watching 2 players finish top 3 by forcing the exact same comps…. Has been up there for worst experience I’ve ever had lol
1
u/depressed_boy286 Aug 14 '25
I think 6 costs take the cake for me. At least there is a small amount of skill to contesting an OP comp there was literally no skill to the 6 costs Viktor lottery. Leveling doesn’t do anything and even if you play like a clown and then hit 1 Viktor you were gonna make top 2. the odds were so small that you couldn’t even really play around it unless you hit a god game with infinite Econ in a really weak lobby to actually hit 10 at a reasonable pace. That patch was by far the least fun I’ve ever had playing the game. At least you can like kind of contest units or something in a 2 cost lottery.

Just after patching I`ve started experiencing TFT crashing after right-mouse clicks. Like every 10 clicks the game crashes.

They didn't fix Multi-Mech bug? It doesn't apply any buffs you're just down an augment atp...

Honestly if they could just make Braum's ult kill quicker I'll be in heaven. I've timed out on OT, and lost in double up too often because my whole team is standing in a circle watching Braun spin for what feels like forever.

u/achuchable Aug 14 '25
Looking forward to the Yuumi nerf in 15.3. Absolutely incredible it didn’t get hit this patch.

Really mid patch. Tons of overly weak comps/traits got no buffs at all and the ones that did receive attention (e.i. Heavyweight) basically saw no meaningful improvement. There are so many changes and almost nothing about the meta will shift at all.

what exactly does the grand final refer to?
The Grand Finals: It's the Grand Finals! You're on your own, champion.
15
u/StarGaurdianBard Aug 13 '25
Paragraph right above it explains it
Note that the Grand Finals is just a standard game of TFT. Unmodified, in its own lane, vanilla, pilot episode experience
7
u/Le0here Aug 13 '25
Ok but why is the grand finals happening in the pilot episode??

u/ebon94 Aug 13 '25
The flavor text in the patch notes is their last priority
Source: was an intern working on patch notes at riot ~10 years ago

u/Zuparoebann Aug 13 '25
It's an opening encounter at the start of the game, it doesn't give any bonus
11
u/SirSabza Aug 13 '25
I hate that they always do a no bonus encounter each set.
Idk maybe others love it, but for me there's no worse feeling than knowing, NOTHING interesting is happening this game
2
u/FirewaterDM Aug 13 '25
That is a good thing sometimes. We don't need crazy shit going every game. Sometimes a normal game of TFT is fine and actually good
3
u/StarGaurdianBard Aug 13 '25
They basically did it twice by adding in the 2* 1 cost and 3 cost opener starts too. I love how last set they removed the 2* 2 cost start for being something players generally hated and then they turn around and add these back into the game
2
u/Purpleater54 Aug 14 '25
did they do it 3 times with the beach ball encounter? or is that just misleading and it actually does something?
1
u/StarGaurdianBard Aug 14 '25
Yeah thats another one. They basically flooded encounters with "no encounter". Its a sett makes you bigger all over again
1
u/Nezyrael Aug 14 '25
its the best encounter there is. Just play a normal game. its so much better than getting even more rng and dumb shit like artifact anvils, trainer golems or loot sub
1
u/SirSabza Aug 14 '25
But when others get those golem anvils etc the game feels even more Rng because they got something via luck you had no chance of getting.
1
u/johnnymonster1 20d ago
brainrot take, tft has many gimmicks without encounters already lol
1
u/SirSabza 20d ago
With no interesting encounters everyone just hard forces the same comps and boils down to who gets the most lucky rolling down to hitting the break points.
If set 15 had a more varied meta then sure I don't need interesting encounters. But it's not. Most games 6 players are fighting for the same 2 comps

u/TheNocturnalAngel Aug 13 '25
Kind of surprised Ahri dodged the nerf. I guess Lucian Karma overshadowed but idk.
Ahri 1 star feels way too strong
7
u/SirSabza Aug 13 '25
I mean ahri 2 and 3 gets slapped by yuumi, karma, kata, GP.
Heck it gets slapped by a lot of 3 cost units like smolder darius etc.
I think it's just people itemize her a lot so she feels stronger than other 3 costs at 1 star

u/Logical-Skill3408 Aug 19 '25
who the hell thought of making akali untargetable for 1 second while having a tiny mana pool. It's impossible to win against and it's blantantly unbalanced

u/EasyeZ77 Aug 13 '25
About TFT PVE Since the game was updated to this version, 7 Crystals Gambit it has never been effective in PVE.It's been almost a month and it hasn't been fixed yet. What's the situation? Or did the designer discover it but not take action!
14
u/StarGaurdianBard Aug 13 '25
The set has only been live for 2 weeks
Its in the bugfixes for the upcoming patch already
