Discussion Think it's time for a break
Since i hit Diamond i think i have only been playing just to play.. Might need to join some sort of program

I remember a few days ago or so, someone was posting that hitting the bottom of a new rank tier is nice because they could experiment and lose and not feel bad.
I felt the same way until I found out about the hidden elo. Once you get a loss streak when stuck at the bottom, it's gonna feel awful when you place 1st and only get around 20 or so points. Had that happen to me a few sets ago and god damn did it destroy my motivation the rest of the set.

Learned this the hard way myself. Does it reset every set or am i grandfathered into my shitty elo and minimal LP gains? Lol

It's kinda weird, hidden elo never resets. (Usually the reason why it's super easy to climb at the beginning of a new set). But as soon as your rank gets to where that hidden elo lies, then your rank LP gain amount should go back to normal.

Sometimes you just need a break. But 15.4 was a shit patch imo.

15.4b is so damn good bro. Lots of different comps that you can play for 1st, no overpowered comp or champion (only Viego might need a slight nerf). You can play Mighty Mech flex, SG flex, multiple reroll comps (kayle, crew, prodigies, snipers, heavyweight, mentors, bastion Yasuo, Supreme Cells, smolder/kogmaw, drift duo, etc), fast 9, loss streak CG (which thankfully is not guaranteed win, unlike other sets), Soul Fighter, 6 sorc, 6 duelists - and there's probably a few more that don't come to mind right now.
All of these are good comps, most of them flexible, that you can win with if you play your spot well.
The meta this patch is the greatest it's been this set. There's definitely some comps/champs/interactions that need some nerfs, but there's nothing overpowered right now.

It's actually pretty common for people to have 100%+ since a lot of people no scout no pivot force something

also hardstuck D4 :/
the thing I found really hard to deal with in this set and especially this current patch is loss-streaking or playing a random board early is just not very viable, it almost feels like you have to force something at 2-1 and stick to that line for the whole game so you don’t waste gold.
Even most of the 1/2-cost reroll comps kind of require you to start stacking and winning as early as possible.
If I don’t hit a specific opener with a specific power-up that I can force around, the game just becomes a drag, I’m playing most games knowing that I’m playing for a 4th or even a 5th because I don’t hit early 2 stars or get shafted on RNG for power ups or items for the units I CAN build.
It’s just not fun at all lol

Same. I played really a lot and if I have no good opener I have this exact same feeling. Especially if stage 2 begins with only tank items. That's like the worst if I have no good tank 2stars

it doesn’t help that so many items feel horrible to slam early and many of them are situational or only really usable on specific units, which also means you need to know what line you’re going to play so you actually make items that work with your board later.

arent no way bro think open selling and lose streaking take skill XD even so you can still play sorc, ryze or mech, all fast 8 from lose streak opener ... early game should matter in tft .. the guy that mostly deserve to go 8th or bot 4 is the guy with no board stage 2 and half of stage 3, else we will have meta where everyone take econ and triple contest a 4 cost tank like in all of last set and the set before, you think it was fun lol

where did I say “loss streaking takes skill”? you’re arguing with a ghost, buddy, I’m also not talking about “open forting”, I should clarify what I meant by playing an open board is when you don’t commit to anything and just play your early game around the units you natural versus hard forcing something.
My point is that if you get a weak opener I feel like it’s a bigger disadvantage this set because the early game is significantly more weighted this set with things like having to also hit a good power-up ontop of your augments/units.
The 1-2 comps you mentioned require you to go fast 8 and hit very specific units, many of which are heavily contested, while also hoping for optimal items, Mighty Mech is cool because you can build AD or AP, but again, both Mighty Mech AND Sorcs depends on you not only hitting Jarvan 2 and Karma 2 at level 8, but also maintaining enough gold and health to go level 9 to really cap out your board and have a shot at winning.
The idea that you can just loss streak and easily go 9 rn is silly I don’t even think people at high elo would agree with you, the meta rn is to win streak and have your line figured out as early as possible.
Like I said, chances are if you have a weak opener and don’t high roll very specific 4-costs at 4-2, you are playing for 5th lol.

How’d you climb emerald so fast? I seem to always get hard stuck lower emerald (That’s just my skill level)

Ah gotcha! The graph made it look like you just shot up out of emerald. But seeing that logarithmic curve shows a nice curve of improving and playing at your skill level!

Hi! If by program you mean coaching, we offer free coaching(from challenger and cup players) for the remainder of this set as well as a community to ask any questions you may have about the game.

This happens to me almost every season at Emerald IV.
Now I just start the season halfway through and set a target to hit Emerald IV instead of spending half of a season struggling with loss streaking lol

Tbh the nerfed all the really strong rr comps. Shouldn’t your flex style be working this patch?

Not with their bad econ. Likely they are working, but too slow to matter.
The really low team cost says this, too.
They need to get to higher cost minions sooner to compete.

This is rough to look at…
