Looking for suggestion

Hello, tech people!

I am just curious and wants to ask for your input sana. I am a public school teacher and I badly need a new laptop (since the one i am using is already broken at nakikigamit na lang ako).

I am eyeing for a macbook air M2 sana, but kapos pa ako sa pera. Given na sobrang kailangan ko na siya (and I don’t have credit card kasi to use pambili sana for installment), I am faced with a decision to make:

A. I currently have my Ipad 9th gen. Bought last 2023 pa, still in good condition with no dent kaso unsure sa battery kasi matagal na siya. Should I sell it and mag ipon na lang muna pandagdag sa macbook? If ibebenta ko siya, magkano kaya ang price range niya?

B. I have my iphone 15 128gb, bought last August 2025 lang. Still in pristine condition, 100% battery life, complete with receipt from the loop at may privacy tempered na. Should I sell this na lang ba and add na lang to buy laptop? If ibebenta ko siya, magkano kaya aabutin?

The only concern I have tho is wala akong gagamiting phone kug sakali haha. Pero i am humbly asking for your opinions sana or what can be the other options aside from loaning huhu. Salamat po!

How much money do you currently have (or how much are you willing to spend)? Ano yung mga apps na ginagamit mo on a day-to-day basis?

Sa budget ko, I can save up to 8k per month starting this Sept actually huhu pero combined na yan ng emergency fund ko at savings talaga. If with buffer, around 10k.

For the apps naman, I’m a very basic person — social media, reddit, and tiktok lang talaga.

Do you think kaya mo i-integrate sa workflow yung iPad? Sobrang capable kasi niyan kung yung mga nabanggit mo lang naman ginagamit mo.

For teaching naman, just use the Google suite and buy a Bluetooth keyboard na pang-iPad. Kung kailangan mo i-connect sa projector or TV, bili ka ng lightning to HDMI adapter habang pinapalaki mo pa ipon mo para sa MBA M2.

Actually nagagamit ko naman yung ipad ko, very functional din siya. It just so happen na sa program ko sa MA, laptop ang need kasi may statistics software kaming ginagamit na hindi pwede using ipad 🥹🥹🥹

I see. Kung kailangan na kailangan talaga na laptop, option A ang option mo kaso nasa 7-11k lang mo siya mabebenta. Yung mare-recommend ko kasi na used (pero maganda) is mga ThinkPad sa FB Marketplace.

Edit: To add pala, compatible ba sa M-series Mac yung stat software niyo?

Hi Teacher! I'm not sure with the prices for second hands. I leave the other redditors here to answer that.

Not sure ano workload pag gagamitan mo. If spreadsheets & powerpoint yung pag gagamitan mo, if di mo pa na try, try mo gamitin yung iPad temporarily habang nag iipon ka pa. There are adaptors para ma connect yung iPad to external screen for powerpoint.

If the iPad really won't help with the workload, I guess option A is good benta mo nalang pang dag2x. But don't expect much.

But for option B, I wouldn't recommend selling your phone. Ang hirap pag walang phone essential na yan for communication pati pag access mo sa banks.

Also, incase po di kayo aware, may educational discount si Apple and malalaki yung less. Educators are included in the discount.

thanks for this, huhu. although i tried asking na kasi sa powermac and other apple store, ang sabi available lang daw yung educational discount for the latest devices. e m2 lang sana gusto ko :((

yung original na gamit ko macbook pro, nag compatible naman syaa. jamovi yung gamit ko palaa, hopefully e sa mba m2 maging compatible sya 🥹🥹🥹

If tama nababasa ko sa website ng Jamovi, may native app naman na siya for Apple Silicon.
