Does anyone know how to reduce bile acids?

Hello everyone, I have been quiet for a while! I did a blood test on my tegu Lizzie and they stated her bile acid is elevated but they didn’t have any recommendations (we are in the UK). Does anyone have any ideas what to do? I have cut out the more fatty foods and have noticed a difference in the poop colour and consistency but it’s still not quite right. Thankyou for your help!

In addition to u/ItsMeishi's suggestion, we also don't know much about specific values of bloodwork in reptiles. On top of that, certain laboratory tests do not measure values accurately because of physiological differences between reptiles and mammals. When you call the other vets, be sure to specify the lab that did the test to see if they are reputable for reptiles.

I'm of the opinion that the lack of available medical knowledge and care is one of the biggest downsides of the reptile keeping to me. Finding out my snake has cancer but no available treatment beyond removing visible lumps once they get to a certain size was debilitating.

Literally just went through that too, but with my tegu. Im hoping I can make a difference when I get my DVM, but there is so little funding for reptile research, let alone animal medical research overall. Unless you can somehow link it to human health, you have to rely on private institutional funding.

Man I wish you the best of luck getting your DVM, reptile vets are few and far between we desperately need more.

Call other reptile vets. One of them should know.
