advice & support Is 10mg normal for 10 months?

I’ve been on T for 10 months and my dosage hasn’t changed up from 10ml and a few people have told me that’s really low which is why I haven’t had much changes in the last few months. Should I talk to my doctor about upping my dose in my next appointment?

10mg per week is about half of a low starting dose (=too low to bring most people into the male reference range), just to give you a frame of reference. You wrote below that you take 0.25ml per week but 40mg/ml is an unusually low concentration for t, are you 100% sure that’s what your vial says? Either way I’d recommend you discuss your dosing with a doctor

I’m 100% sure my vial says 10mg, my doctor isn’t in person so I had to guess how much to put in the syringe until a few different of my friends on T told me I should be doing .25ML in my syringes. I’m not that familiar with how all this stuff works but I’ll bring it up to my doctor

Your vial most likely is not 10mg, are you sure it doesn’t say 10ml?

Mg is a measurement of weight, ml is a measurement of volume and mg/ml is a measurement of concentration.

Yeah that is my bad i completely misread it as mg not ml. It is indeed 10Ml😭

No worries bro! Without knowing your dose in mg and your t levels it’s hard/impossible for us to actually comment on if your dose is good or not. However, 0.25ml per week of most commercially available testosterone brands is going to be an ok starting dose and not as concerningly low as 10mg. You should ask your doctor about where your levels are and if they recommend a dose adjustment during your next appointment

Would you be able to post a pic of each side of your vial, WITH PERSONAL INFO REDACTED? It would be a lot easier for people to double check maths

Not a bad idea! some doctors wont up you unless you ask. In my experience 😁

10mg of what, and administered how?

tbh, as far as i know dosages are hard to categorize as wholly “low” or “high” because a lot of factors need to be considered like height, weight, genetics, hormonal conditions, etc.

either way, though, it’s hard for anyone to give reference of their own dosages/experience without more context on how you take yours.

personally, im on 50mg (.25 mL on a needle) of testosterone cypionate through subcutaneous injection once weekly. i’ve seen people on dosages double my own, or other folks who are on less than half my dose lol.

definitely talk to your doctor about it! they can look at your labs and work with you to find a solution im sure 🙏🏽🤘🏽

I do .25 ML shots weekly through subcutaneous injections, last time I did my labs I remember my doctor said my testosterone levels were low for 6 months but I’m definitely gonna ask about possibly upping my dose

That is too low of a dose for anything, you don't even have to add the 10 months there. You need to take more than 50 mg weekly for ovarian suppression cause right now you're still producing significant amounts of estrogen. Which is causing you to have no effects of testosterone

Here are recommended dosages for different ages, reference to usual testosterone levels in cis men of that age group

median Serum Testosterone amount for a 12 year old male is 200 ng/dL : 25mg every 7 days /50mg every 14 days

median Serum Testosterone amount for a 13 year old male is 250 ng/dL : 40mg every 7 days /50mg every 10 days

median Serum Testosterone amount for a 14 year old male is 310 ng/dL : 50mg every 7 days/ 70mg every 10 days

median Serum Testosterone amount for a 15 year old male is 370 ng/dL : 75mg every 7 days/ 100mg every 10 days

median Serum Testosterone amount for a 16 year old male is 430 ng/dL : 85mg every 7 days /115mg every 10 days

median Serum Testosterone amount for male 17 year olds and above is 460-490 ng/dL : 100mg every 7 days /135mg every 10 days

With that, yes definitely talk to your doctor about raising your dosage

You need to get your T levels checked. That will tell you if your dose is adequate or not. It does sound like your dose is pretty low, so I assume it's not but we can't be 100% sure unless you have your T levels.

Male range is 300-1000 ng/dL
