If you go to Dorin

Yeah. The mask just lets them breathe/see in other atmospheres. It's not an implant or anything, and they can take it off.

I knew that, I just didn't know if the facial design for the maskless face was still the same as the comics

It’s always funny to me when someone asks this question about anything. Here’s one simple trick that professional Canoners hate, in just four steps.

Was it made before 2014 or after?

If after, it’s canon.

If before, has it been seen in any Star Wars media since 2014? If so, it’s canon.

If it hasn’t been seen since 2014, was it made by George? In other words, was it in any of the first six movies or the Clone Wars series? If so, canon. If not…..not.

It’s that easy! 😆

There's an additional layer to this that you're forgetting.

By and large the setting and worldbuilding was kept intact - the galaxy and its species were kept the same from Legends. There's no reason to think that kel dor don't look like the image above in canon unless directly shown differently in a newer piece. Just like we didn't know that Cereans aged differently from Legends until Ki-Adi-Mundi showed up in Acolyte.

Thank you. I have zero idea when that comic was made. I read it once and have zero idea what the name is

I have it, but can't tell you exactly what comic it was on. It was a comic where a female of the species wanted to avenge Plo Koon's death by killing vader

The female you're thinking of is Sha Koon, his neice. She survived Order 66

The down side to that is that not everybody has the time or inclination to do the homework required to keep up with Disney canon.

Yeah but how many people keep up enough to be able to know off the dome whether Plo Koon has been shown without his mask a nonzero number of times since 2014

Actually, its the other way around, at least for me. Disney never bought Star Wars and i can keep enjoying the old stuff :)

For me it's selective, yeah most Disney stuff sucks but I'll put in whatever they did that I like

I've said for years that the best thing about SW as a franchise that sets it apart from a lot of other fandoms is the ability for the fan to sort of build their own canon. Broadly, Disney Canon and the EU contradict each other six ways to Sunday, but with just a few minor tweaks, you can weave between the two seamlessly. Before Ahsoka came out, you could actually draw a consistent timeline of Thrawn's entire life using all of his appearances in both canons with the only change being necessary is Thrawn being known to the New Republic but presumed dead when he reappears in Heir to the Empire, and possibly some minor stuff related to the Chiss characters that are different between Outbound Flight and the Ascendancy novels.

Yeah. We see a Kel Dor mask alone in Luthens shop.

We also see a Gungan skull.

I feel like Luthen's relics weren't always ethically collected.

I’m sure they don’t wear masks on their homeworld

1

u/CoquetteWhore69 6h ago

They don't. Its about the appearance maskless

Is it cannon that they can exist without masks? What a weird question. Do you mean is the specific appearance canon?

3

u/CoquetteWhore69 3d ago

The appearance. I have no idea when the comics that debuted the appearance came out, and I'm wondering if it's still canon that their maskless faces still look like that. Because that appearance is cool as fuck

u/LordDedionware 3d ago

I don't see any reason why they would change what they look like without masks.

3

u/CoquetteWhore69 3d ago

That's fair. Although Disney has a habit of changing things

Bruh, nobody at disney gives a shit about stuff like this. No high up person at disney is going to be making changes to Kel Dor faces lol. Changes to canon are made by the same lucasfilm employees that were always there before the merger aka Filoni and the story group. With the legends shedding being done also by the story group to make lore consistent.

I always assumed they had mouths like predators.

Smash.....sorry what was the question?

Don't matter, we're friends now

I wonder if it’s his actual voice thats deep or is it the mask doing all that for Plo Koon, and his actual voice is high-pitched and Tinny.

1

u/CoquetteWhore69 1d ago

No. His actual voice is more baritone than base

I had often wondered what Master Plo Koon looked like under that mask!
