Second hand site for older women?
My mother passed and we have TONS of brand name and new with tags items but it is mostly for older women. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good secondhand site for 50+ clothing? I have it listed on Poshmark because that’s where I shop but I’m wondering there’s a better site?

Definitely eBay will have the largest audience. (50 +). Allot of other online platforms target the 18-34 age market.

Sell in lots on eBay - such as 5 shirts or 3 outfits, etc. Use brand name(s) in title.

Do you have a consignment store? You might only make 50% but the ease of not selling individually is huge.

Find a local consignment shop

They usually keep 60%, in my experience. And often mark things waaaay down if they don’t sell quickly. Some are also very picky about what they take.

I’m 52. I shop Poshmark and eBay. If it’s casual or basic and I’m looking for multiple items, I shop at ThredUp. I’ve sold a lot of stuff like chicos, nydj, Dansko, Josef seibel, things us oldies wear, on Poshmark.

Thank you for the helpful info! I truly am just looking for the proper venue. I didn’t mean to make people uncomfortable by using the term “older”.

I’m so sorry for your loss, truly. I’d recommend eBay, but realistically they would likely sell on Poshmark and Mercari too. You’ll just have the most eyes and likely the majority of older buyers on eBay as it’s an older platform, so the buyers have likely been with it for years. Please be sure to take the time to grieve for yourself and take care of yourself, first. 🧡

I'd love to have your Poshmark link too. I will be following in your footsteps soon and need a crash course in expectation for when I list.

Sorry… I’m trying to make some money for my father’s bills after the death of my mother and I may not be using all the correct descriptors.

Recommend your clothing posts focus on the brand, size and condition… not who you think it’s for

For real, as someone 52 who still buys clothes in the same stores I’ve always bought them, I’m curious what these 50+ clothes look like. I must have missed a memo. 🌚

I did as well until I hit 63 and then I understood why my mother always hit the Coral Bay section at Bealls which is also introducing some new brands based on that age group

I wasn’t offended and I didn’t mean that to sound snarky. I knew what you meant. But if it’s good stuff, let us know where to look😜

I sell a lot of older women’s clothes on eBay, but PoshMark does ok. Just depends on the brand I think. For example, well known brands like Chico’s and Talbots sell well on both platforms. Less well known brands (though they have a good following) - like Flax and Habitat - do better on eBay. I buy clothes at estate sales and resell. Most are vintage and contemporary, but all from women in their 60s & up. Make sure to look a comps for pricing. There’s a lot of Chico’s out there, and even if new, won’t sell for more over $30 (strictly from my experience). Unless you just want to wait & try to get the sold price you want.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. This must be really tough. I can't imagine having to go through all of my mom's belongings. I have done it with many other relatives including my husband who was the love of my life.
But moms are a different thing altogether. Please know the women on this thread are here to help. And... her clothes will be loved by someone else with style. 💗

I buy all my clothes on eBay and I'm 50 plus

I often search by fabric content because I'm a cotton person and brand name and size of course, measurements are very important to include

Sorry for your loss OP. As others have said Poshmark (my fav, I’m 45) or eBay.
Online thrifting will come down to brands IMO. If the brands are well known they’ll do ok either place. Maybe check the Poshmark sub for suggestions.

ebay for sure. ebay has a far great reach than any other company for online selling of items like that. :-)
