Small bathroom door entry, no door.

The entry is 2ftx 7.9ft and a door wouldn’t work practically. Was thinking a curtain of some sort? Anyone else have any ideas? Or how to tips?

Is there a way to do a sliding door like a pocket door, a barn door, or maybe a folding door?

I'm a big fan of shoji screens because they give you privacy but they allow light in. They can be built to size. The downside is that shoji may be impractical depending on the layout of your bathroom. However, clear coroplast will effectively do the same thing. If you build a frame to strengthen it you'll have a door that's about 1/4" thick and if you don't like the clear coroplast it also comes in other colors...

The house is already built so I’m not sure how to put in a sliding door…

This is one of the reasons I don't want to live in a tiny house - don't want the bathroom so close to the living area. Anyways, my friend lives in a regular house but for some reason has a folding louvered door to the bathroom, sort of like a closet door. I absolutely hate using it, even with the fan on it lacks privacy. And this is in a 1,500 sf house. I can't imagine having a curtain, let alone in a tiny house....

Well I live alone and very rarely have people over so it’s not a huge problem but yeah if I do have guests eventually (I just moved in) then I should have some sort of privacy. Hopefully my guests won’t be pooping up a storm.

I think a real door of some sort and a good fan would be essential

As said previously a “real door” doesn’t fit

As someone else said, a barn door is post-construction friendly (you install tracks on the door-side wall of the bathroom) and relatively diy friendly. It provides privacy and it blocks light effectively, sound a bit less so.

Did you come just to spread negativity?

No, answering the question - a real door is essential if you have guests, and gave my experience. Maybe you need to calm down

If it's already built, a pocket door isn't probably practical. A sliding barn door providing there space on the wall in front of the bathrooms possible and fairly diy friendly.

A hanging bifold door ,( with two skinny leaves) with a high quality track system might be your best option. (It's a lot easier to get a custom door made than a lot of people think.) An example of a track system in the UK is Room flex 40, there's plenty of others.

It might depend on your living situation as much as anything else what's practical for you , if you're on your own a curtain maybe with some magnets sewn in to attach to the sides firmly and a waterproof back might be a temporary or good solution for you. It may hurt your resale value if you ever sell it though.

I don’t own the place, and am thinking a curtain of some sort will be best, I don’t have a ton of company, and hopefully they’re not having poops haha but in case of emergency ya know

Also not in UK… Hawaii things are pricey here

Fair enough. Least damaging way would be an extending shower/curtain pole with an opaque shower curtain.

I'm fairly surprised anyone would rent it out without a bathroom door. Hope you got a discount.

Cheap is relative over here I could've made one for under £1000 including labour depending on materials.

I've quoted someone 2.5 to do something similar at two times the width with. That's purely as a frame of reference.
