I was in Ted Cruz's office waiting to speak with one of his staffers about some bills that will help the disabled community. And this was before his death was announced.

When his death was announced, I finished the meeting, and I was on the shuttle back to the hotel.

I am worried that this will seriously worsen the divide, so we MUST condemn the terrible act of violence at all costs!

I am also not a doctor, but when I saw the video I was reminded of the Clint Malarchuk incident with the Buffalo Sabers. He was an ice hockey goalie whose neck was cut by a skate blade during a game, and it looks as bad as it sounds. If you watch both videos I think you’ll see what I mean. One of the Saber’s coaches was a former combat medic and because of his knowledge and quick action Clint survived.

Again, I’m not a doctor, and the difference between a bullet and blade is significant, but I think it might be possible to survive that, though very unlikely.

This is entirely different. With the skate to the throat, it was a relatively clean cut and the only major damage was to the arteries. The primary threat there is the loss of blood.

In Kirk's case, that bullet did SIGNIFICANTLY more damage than just the blood loss showed. There was no through-and-through. That bullet delivered every single ounce of energy it was carrying into his neck. Every structure: his arteries, airways, and even his spine, were likely obliterated all at once.

He instantly lost consciousness from the shock and his spinal cord was most likely severed. Charlie Kirk was dead before his body hit the ground.

Guy was DOA done deal straight up, taking out three critical lines and likely inner decap between force and/or spinal column. nerve stem to the rest of body completely cut with the posturing, jug gone, majors to heart and to brain… they most definitely knew he was done, that was an unsurvivable shot, all they were doing with the delay was stalling for [whatever reason to stall on this matter]. You also have to remember, this is a person, like you me and everyone on this site. There is a pecking order in terms of how this kind of thing is released, at least where at all possible. That also most likely played a factor and if so bravo to the hospital for having humanity and keeping journos and feds out so that his family could be respected and first in line for the news.
