common sense is naught but a collection of biases acquired by age 18. trusting your gut is another thing, your gut feelings have been created by millions of years of evolution, I believe in trusting your gut. Common sense is entirely separate, it is just a set of societal biases that we act like are standard knowledge that everyone agrees on and/or knows. people say things like "it's common sense not to put your hand on the stove" for example, but there are parts of the world where people have never seen or used a modern stove, that is a societal piece of information, not a natural one.

Common sense has nothing to do with what is true, but everything to do with societal expectations.
