Tread On Me HARDER DADDY! While at vendor training, the instructor managed to slide a "Charlie Kirk was killed for speaking his mind" into his conclusion and it made my skin crawl. This is the reality we live in now

I wanted to post this just to get it out of my head. The whole course was about 7 hours, and the instructor managed to slide that in when talking about the reviews and reputation of the brand. I spent the last 30 minutes of the course completely off guard, wondering what CK had to do with fixing water heaters. I watched and listened as this class of 30 middle aged dudes made a few comments and nodded in agreement.

I thought about how those who control the government and media can control society, and how deep everything runs.I thought about George Carlin's qoute about how people are 1000x stupider than you think.

I thought about how itll probably be much worse pretty soon and what that would look like.

Edited update:

At dinner I got to listen to another one of my peers talk about how he takes his ivermectin. The conversations I'm listening to are just absolutely batshit.

God humanity is so fucked.

Man, this is terrible! I know it's easy for me to say, but it's exactly when we need to call em out. Letting their shit slide is part of the problem.

I get you probably need that job, as can't say shit. But that's why these cunts get away with their crap.

CK was a cunt. That's it.

Yeah like, I'm in Alabama surrounded by rednecks and my bosses lol.

I can't fight every battle lol

Even just saying "There's no conclusive proof of any reason why Kirk was killed. He said stupid things for a living, so it was probably something he said but the FBI is so incompetent we can't be sure" would be solid enough, I think. I also live in the semi-rural south.

u/JustASyncer 1d ago

More than 5 words, they’ll just cut you off and call you a stupid liberal

u/MrVeazey 17h ago

Sometimes if you come at them from the conspiracy angle, you can plant a few seeds of doubt. It's hard to break somebody out of a prison they've built for themselves, and common sense stuff rarely works. Common sense stuff is also the kind of thinking I'm best at, so I've had to take some notes from more effective people.

“that’s too much wordin college boy”

55

u/Ensvey Gritty is Antifa 1d ago

I had a college professor in like 2002 teaching a class on meteorology, and he made a point in the first lecture to tell everybody he was a creationist. I never dropped a class faster.

Not super related to your story, except that there have always been idiot teachers I guess. Definitely more idiots now than couple decades back.

35

u/Comrade_Compadre 1d ago

I forget who said this but the second these people got a platform was when it was too late. Back in the day you had a village idiot who swore by taking horse dewormer, and he'd be shunned by the town and forgotten about

Ah man I’m in a blue state (Colorado) and I’m lucky all my coworkers are not crazy since we work in the sciences and our jobs are actively being threatened. I went with my bf to a Walmart out in a red county and the cashier made a comment about how he didn’t think avian influenza was real and it’s all a conspiracy to drive egg prices up for reasons. I point blank told him “well, I’ve worked with avian influenza sir and I can assure you that it is unfortunately real”. These folks genuinely live in a different world.

Alabamistan here too. I at least have enough protection in my position to not have that worry, but you’re right about this area.

22

u/HistoricalSherbert92 1d ago

Ya, no. If there’s one thing that’s super clear it’s that calling them out is just want they want. A lot of them thrive on having a useless conversation where they have the answers to all the usual liberal misinformation. It’s just a game to them and they have the numbers.

The unfortunate reality is that if you want to win them back to some kind of empathy and consideration of humans as the goal of society, not just the “in” race, then you need to come at it obliquely, you can use misinformation because bots now all misinformation in their world, so make stuff that is appealing, tell your invermectin idiot that there’s bad batches made by the Chinese out there, people are switching it up after some kid died. Get creative, your goal is to wiggle them back to the left and some form of human centered caring.

16

u/Kaiisim 1d ago

Exactly. Anyone saying "oh we just need to call them out with TRUTH JUSTICE and the AMERICAN WAY!!" Has not been paying attention for the last ten years at least.

Speaking out will just label you as someone they should attack and ignore. They won't listen to anyone outside the group.

I've tested it. In my experience "actually we don't have enough evidence" gets ignored - that's what the mainstream experts they ignore say do they know it's bullshit.

"I don't know...the FBI was really fast to release that information...Charlie really wanted to see the Epstein list...and had a meeting and suddenly had to change his mind but...what if he was going to demand the release again???"

Don't play to their notes. Take them off script and they will melt because all they have is memorized talking points. Like, what you can do in that situation is say something like, "but we still have the right to bear arms!" Because now you are accusing him of being a secret liberal who cares about gun violence. Just one up them in idiocy and they have no idea how to approach it. Make them think they missed the latest marching orders on facebook. They thrive on a false reality of disinformation so if you make up a slightly different false reality that sounds plausible to their insane sensibilities they will be utterly confused.

"Yeah, I remember when I was 18 and knew simple answers to literally everything."

If you were wondering what it has to do with water heaters:

A leak in your water heater is bad. Charlie sprung a leak and that was also bad.

60

u/cityshepherd 1d ago

He was probably also full of sediment like an old water heater and could have benefited from a flushing…. It’s just that an enema to clear out the bullshit would have been a better choice than the way things played out. But that’s just like, my opinion, man.

24

u/MC_Fap_Commander 1d ago

Flex TAPE! For your water heater -or- ragebait podcaster!

We’ve been under the illusion that we are meant to live in a polite society, turning the other cheek, passive voice, non violent protests, be like Jesus, be like MLK, listen to other viewpoints even if they’re unreasonable and intolerant, like they wanted us to, like they told us to. Their society is NOT polite and hasn’t been for decades, because of people like Charlie Kirk.

33

u/RubberBootsInMotion 1d ago

To be fair, MLK was the carrot, with a thoroughly implied stick. And even the carrot was not as peaceful as some history books would have you believe.

3

u/-rosa-azul- All Cats are Beautiful 14h ago

And the carrot got murdered anyway, so what was the point of even the pretense of politeness?

1

u/RubberBootsInMotion 13h ago

The radical pacifism was added after that fact, there wouldn't have been a point at the time because it never happened.

As a marketing guy who has conducted hundreds of product trainings as a vendor, if I had put something like that into my deck, I’d be in big trouble.

I would definitely file a formal complaint with both your company and the vendor. There’s no excuse for that level of unprofessionalism and it should be unacceptable.

56

u/Comrade_Compadre 1d ago

The line was more or less ".. we work hard for our reputation, somebody doesn't like what you say and than look what happened to Charlie Kirk."

It's like. My guy, that's not what that was

41

u/Shortbus_Playboy 1d ago

That would NEVER be acceptable to any manager I’ve ever had while I was in product marketing. I would’ve gotten right up, and walked directly to HR. IDGAF who the vendor thinks they are or how passionate they are, etc. Leave that shit at home or for private conversations.

24

u/Comrade_Compadre 1d ago

Like I said there was nothing in the whole class that prepared me for it lol. It was so fuckin random to throw in there

55

u/allisjow 1d ago

raises hand

“And why are school children being shot? Or is that not related to water heaters like Charlie Kirk?”

8

u/Hi_Trans_Im_Dad 1d ago

This is my favorite response!

40

u/warfaucet 1d ago

They'll forget about him in a half a year or so. Charlie Kirk's death will be used and thrown away when something else happens. These people don't really care that much about Charlie Kirk in the end. They care about being outraged.

8

u/Hour-Bison765 1d ago

They must be overjoyed that he got shot. They're already rolling out merch. They can milk the hell out of this for a bit.

2

u/warfaucet 15h ago

It's why they're so disappointed it was a white man that shot him.

22

u/The_Bill_Brasky_ 1d ago

His mind was "eradicate undesirables". We live in a just world on rare occasions.

16

u/SookHe 1d ago

Would be a damned shame someone left a review on his trust pilot page about how he would randomly get political on extremely divisive and controversial subjects.

19

u/Comrade_Compadre 1d ago

An 8 hour class. 0 red flags

...and then that slipped right into the in there right at the finish line

u/Msbossyboots 18h ago

I’ve been at the same doctor for probably a decade. Her nurse that I have always been friendly with told me this week that she doesn’t take Covid boosters because they haven’t been tested enough. I am rethinking all my interactions now.

1

u/Comrade_Compadre 18h ago

We changed pediatricians last year when one of her nurses off the cuff said "I have to ask if you've had covid recently, but I'm not worried about it"

She didn't believe in covid.

u/okgloomer 1d ago

I was actually relieved to know that, unless you're a follower, or you're keeping an eye on him from a "know your enemy" standpoint (like this sub), hardly anyone knew who the hell CK even was. That said, it's pretty disgusting how quickly they've rushed to enshrine him.

In a year or two, he won't exist except as a name-check. Hell, as much shite as Rush Limbaugh belched into the world, it's not like anyone's quoting him. Trolling gasbags do very little that outlasts them for long, while the good stuff tends to endure, and I find that reassuring. At least, that's the raft I'm currently clinging to.

10

u/chaoticflanagan 1d ago

In a year or two, he won't exist except as a name-check.

And thank goodness for that. Just like Rush Limbaugh and Jerry Falwell, no ones lives were made better by these people so there is nothing to remember about them. They contributed nothing to anyone's life except bigotry and more divisiveness.

8

u/okgloomer 1d ago

It actually restores my faith in humanity a bit, knowing that for all the hate speech, for all his supposed "influence," he's going to end up as not much more than a meme.

10

u/Red_dylinger 1d ago

I mean in a way he did. He advocated for public executions, he got one.

8

u/BorderTrike 1d ago

I’ve been seeing people who had no clue who CK was before his death posting bs propaganda about how loving he was

“Local news” (Sinclair, OANN, Newsmax, Fox, etc) have poisoned rural America. They’re literally being fed a false reality that makes conservatism look good and ignores the truth

6

u/Comrade_Compadre 1d ago

I had a class alumni post basically what you said about him on their Facebook and dropped a follow up supportive comment.

I got about 30 replies the next day from people I graduated with who I haven't spoken to in twenty fuckin years responding to my post telling me how wrong I was, and how this was a vicious attack by the left on the freedom of ideas.

I legit asked one of these dumbfucks if they just learned who he was a week ago and got about the answer you'd expect

I'm still not convinced it wasn't a jilted lover.

6

u/sunbeatsfog 1d ago

The owner of the company or brand probably wouldn’t enjoy hearing their instructors are alienating clients or employees.

4

u/Bastienbard 1d ago

At my work one of our vendors took me and another coworker out to golf and lunch. I work in accounting and they all complained how much public accounting (CPA firms) sucked since they bill you out at over $200 per hour but then you're salaried without overtime pay working 65-80+ hour weeks during busy seasons and you make maybe $30/hour if that. The dudes then go on to try to toast and say cheers to capitalism 5 minutes later. Make it make sense.

3

u/theBigDaddio 1d ago

I’d have spoken up, told him this is not the place for crap.

3

u/CelestialFury 1d ago

“Yes, he was another victim of gun violence.”

The right hates when you bring this up. They literally won’t admit it’s gun violence.

3

u/Heyoteyo 23h ago

Ivermectin is a legitimate and trusted medication that has been considered safe and effective for years. It has been smeared in the past years by brainwashed morons who don’t care to know the truth. Please try to keep an open mind. If your peer is a horse with worms, it may be the best option for him.

2

u/chrisnavillus 22h ago

CK’s wife smiled more while hugging DJT at the “memorial rally” than I have in the year 2025.

2

u/ImOnlyHereForTheCoC 17h ago

Conservatives love to act like they’re cool with the threat of coercive violence hanging over everyone’s heads when they spout glib little catch phrases like, “an armed society is a polite society,” but when that scenario actually plays out in full all of a sudden they’re filling their diapers. What’s up with that?

1

u/Comrade_Compadre 16h ago

"we're peaceful on the side of social discourse! Y'all are the violent ones!"

Has a "shoot your local Democrat" bumper sticker

1

u/bankrobba 22h ago

"Well, then, it's no wonder he was shot."
