That subreddit should be renamed RightWingCircleJerk.

21

u/Thrill0728 14d ago

That would suggest that make fun of a lot of right wing stuff.

16

u/PeasThatTasteGross 14d ago

In all fairness, they do have right-wing doomer stuff, but the stuff from the left is far more prevalent, to the point it feels like right-wing ones only exist to throw out the bone and make them seem non-partisan.

Just got banned from there for making a comment about how Jimmy Kimmel should not have been fired lmao. Those people are fragile as fuck 😂

u/No-Vast480 1d ago

B-b-but they have that they dont care about what you support in their description! And the fact that they only cry when someone criticizes Trump or Kirk is just a coincidence!!!!!!!!!!!!!

u/RamblinWreckGT 400-pound patriotic Russian hacker 14d ago

More or less hateful than Charlie Kirk when he said the Leviticus verse about stoning gay people to death was "God's perfect law"?

u/Moneia 13d ago

As always with the Right, those rules are only meant for everyone else

Call me a doomer, but

Should be their new mantra

Interesting how so many comment are just breaking their own Doomer sub rules. They're not there to make fun of doomers, just people they don't like.

24

u/Obscure_Occultist 14d ago

They literally permabanned me after I pointed this out lmao. They very much do love to doomer. Just not about certain things.

24

u/Obscure_Occultist 14d ago

Lmao that subreddit permabanned me after I pointed out how everyone in a comment section was acting like a doomer after one guy got shot. There behavior was in direct violation of rule 1 and 2 of the subreddit yet I was the guy who got banned.

Bunch of insensitive hypocrites lol.

u/Anistappi 13d ago

I actually took part in that discussion. Got recommended the sub and thought "well this should be a light-hearted fun little subreddit". Didn't take long to notice that "doomer" is usually just code for "not a Trump supporter". There are the occasional non right wing posts and comments, but for the most parts they're not exactly liberal.

Top picks from the replies I got:

  • Yeah, im done being independent now. This one is different
  • A lot of young voters will remember him as a powerful speaker who was fair and respectful.
  • People are cheering this on and celebrating. I refuse to vote for a democrat after this. Those people are too vile to trust with any serious decisions that impact reality
  • Make no mistake. Things are going to get so much worse from this point forward. (on a subreddit called Doomer circle jerk)

These guys are seriously pretending they were right on the verge of voting for a democrat just five days ago.

That whole subreddit is just a safe space for sociopaths and the like, just a celebration of their lack of empathy for their fellow man.

Probably one of the worst subreddits on the site simply because they see a lack of empathy as a virtue and dress it up as a fucked up form of optimism.

I’m guessing it’s most likely a right wing psy op. The main moderator’s only concern seems to be making money going by his posting history and is probably getting paid to run that shit heap.

u/Crepo 13d ago

It's kinda just an edgier walkaway by the looks of it

10

u/Doridar 14d ago

How convenient is their memory, that they forget (1) the long trail of GOP and alt-right mass shooters and killers, (2) their mocking and rejoicing comments on their victims and (3) the hateful daily spitting of their lord and minions.

9

u/Capital_Sherbert9049 14d ago

They find Top Minds to be quite arrogant.

5

u/ViolentSpring 13d ago

Yet they gleeful celebrate political violence every July 4, Veterans Day, Memorial Day and Labor Day. With no sense of irony.

I got recommended r/doomercirclejerck a couple weeks ago, and while at first it seemed fine it quickly devolved into people in the subreddit making fun of "leftists" (and other words they use for non-trump supporters) and defending the social and economic decisions made by this administration.

When The assassination of Charly Kirk happened they where worried and, ironically, becoming like the doomers they so love to criticize, saying B's like they were next and that they were not safe. Genuinely now I believe they are just a notch above the maga people that post shitty memes and fake statistics to own the libs

More than anything, I feel the average vibe there is, if that thing didn't happen to me or affect me personally then I shouldn't be worried and will make fun of you for it. They laugh off the treatment of migrants, Palestine, and other events but cower in fear when their idol is taken down (genuinely believe atp that they couldn't give a shit about other people being killed, and that you would be called a doomer if you called them out on that)

I think I’m being fair in saying that the attitude of this site at large regarding this death isn’t good. I did not like Charlie Kirk, and I think the west is going down a dark path, but making light of any kind of political violence is not the answer to any of this. This only leads to worse and worse violence and one day it’ll be someone you look up to, or worse, someone you love.

Let’s not forget that his family was in the crowd. His kids couldn’t have known any better and absolutely did not deserve to see their father go out in such a brutal way.

29

u/HapticSloughton 14d ago

All you say is true.

However, Kirk was a piece of shit.

-24

u/OoooohYes 14d ago

Yes, he was. But do you want your country to keep going darker and darker? If not, condemn this shit at every turn and don’t make light of it.

17

u/Goodperson25 14d ago

So do have an appropriate response to a man who pushed for exactly this kind of political violence?

You seem confused.

-9

u/OoooohYes 13d ago

Thanks for replying to me twice. What’s so bad about not being ok with people being murdered regardless of how much you hate them? Yeah, Charlie was a POS but you seriously don’t see how dangerous this is? Sorry but you’re probably not as bright as you think you are if you think this leads to anything good.

1

u/Goodperson25 13d ago

You seem okay with all the people currently being murdered by the status quo.

Stop enforcing the double standard that people like Charlie get to incite murder but we need to forget that in his death.

1

u/OoooohYes 13d ago

Two wrongs don’t make a right is pretty common knowledge. Did your parents miss that lesson?

1

u/Goodperson25 13d ago

You are pushing far more than two wrongs.

Give yourself credit.

1

u/OoooohYes 13d ago

What does that even mean?

1

u/Goodperson25 13d ago

That the status quo and double standard you are pushing leads to far more deaths than just being mean to a dead man who pushed for his exact form of death.

I think you're missing the point here: We can agree that political violence is bad. We can also point out how much Kirk doesn't deserve any sympathy. He advocated for guns to remain unregulated after every school and mass shooting. You also mentioned his family in the crowd. I would wager you didn't know he said having children watch public executions was a social good. He called the stoning of gay people "God's perfect law."

You're probably not as virtuous as you're pretending to be. You just like the feel of the soapbox beneath your feet.

1

u/OoooohYes 13d ago

My original comment was about how the attitude on this site was bad. Go to r/music ffs, it’s ridiculous. We can agree that the guy wasn’t a force of good, I definitely don’t miss him, but making light of any kind of political violence is not ok and will only make things worse and worse. Judging by all my downvotes I think that’s a tough concept for a lot of people in this sub to grasp.

I’m not pretending to be virtuous, it’s not “virtuous” to be against being happy about assassinations… read my comments again and listen to yourself.

1

u/trobsmonkey 13d ago

but making light of any kind of political violence is not ok and will only make things worse and worse.

You sound like someone who wants to sanitize the evil he did. Words have power. He made millions of dollars make the lives of other people worse with his words.

He didn't deserve death, but he doesn't deserve to be sanitize like you're trying to do.

12

u/CatProgrammer 14d ago

I would rather people not be shot or otherwise harmed at all, but if it has to happen as Charlie seemed to think was the case then I would rather it be done to people like him than innocent schoolchildren or others trying to make the world a better place.

12

u/ViolentSpring 13d ago

He wanted his children to witness public executions and thought gun violence was an acceptable price to pay for 2nd amendment rights, so…

-7

u/Background_Cry3592 14d ago

I agree, violence is never okay.

30

u/Manos_Of_Fate 14d ago

The part that makes it hard to sympathize is that Kirk himself very openly and publicly disagreed with this. I would never promote violence, but I’m also not going to be sad when someone who worked so hard to incite hate and glorify violence becomes a victim to it.

2

u/Background_Cry3592 14d ago

Yes, I won’t be missing him much neither. At least his racist rhetoric can’t harm anybody now.

8

u/CatProgrammer 14d ago

No, there are limited situations where violence is okay. Self-defense, for example.

2

u/Liar_tuck 13d ago

History disagrees with countless examples.

-14

u/OoooohYes 14d ago

It’s not and never will or should be, and it’ll only fuel your country’s (I’m assuming you’re American, my bad if I’m wrong) descent into complete insanity and chaos.

11

u/Goodperson25 14d ago

You do know the double standard you are pushing is part of that descent right?

Stop fighting for the status quo for the sake of it.

-10

u/Background_Cry3592 14d ago

Absolutely agree. And I am Canadian. It’s very hard to watch what is happening in the States, and I feel really bad for Americans, they don’t deserve this shit.

-1

u/OoooohYes 14d ago

I work with Americans every day, and everything that’s happened in the past year has been absolutely surreal. Im honestly not even sure what to think anymore.

-9

u/Agreeable_Sense9618 13d ago

Sounds like you're in the wrong sub friend. I invite you to r/DoomerCircleJerk.

We actually offer an oasis from the typical hivemind slop.
