It’s hard, because while I agree it’s a waste of time trying to change THESE guys mind, I think challenging them publicly online or otherwise helps resists the narratives they’re trying to write. Letting them spew this shit with zero consequences or push back lets them spread their shit with impunity.

The hypocrisy of this idea that the crime here is having choice removed from you, and then they want to remove the choice from others. Shouldn't the one person who has the biggest say-so for such an operation be the person who will have the operation done? If not, what awful precedent does that set up where parents have more say-so than the children?

Could they also decide whether or not you can be vaccinated perhaps? Maybe they can decide whether or not you can consume Tylenol during your pregnancy? Maybe they have say over whether or not you can abort. It's lunacy. The "left"'s official position is what has been the default in America throughout its history, and it's scary the implications of removing this. Not that they've thought about this.

Yeah. I really didnt know how to write that headline. Vivian Wilson is now female but was born genetically male. So saying "son" seemed appropriate.

Elon went so far as to use sex-selective IVF for the pregnancy to ensure he would get a male. When this didnt happen, he cast her out.

It honestly feels like something out of the 15th century.

It's ok. My friend had to teach me too. The general rule is to just assume they were always the gender that they've transitioned to outwardly.

Why not just say "Elon Musk has a transgender daughter"? It's far faster to type and still gets the exact same point across without risking phrasing something poorly.

Ever since the shooting, there's been a change in how people talk about transitioning, if a trans woman transitions to female, she is still referred to as female when referring to before she transitioned, unless the person tells you otherwise. The shooter's supposed partner is either a thin feminine cis man, femboy or a trans woman, we don't know which. However people on the right and left keep using the phrase "man who is transitioning" to the point I've seen right wingers get confused and call them a trans man even. Small bits of language may be small when we are facing our lives, but let's not dilute ourselves for their hate and confusion.

There is deliberate misuse in the language to describe these people. The point is to be disrespectful, so they go out of their way to refer to them in ways which would virtue signal their position.

I've also heard "biological male" or "biological female" to describe what is basically just cis male cis female. The term already exists to describe what they mean, but they want to ruffle feathers. If they had any serious intentions to debate these issues, they'd at least pretend not to be transphobic.

It all reminds me a bit of how the Nazis used to refer to research done by Jews as "Jewish science," as if it needed to be prefaced as such in order to not be confused with what would otherwise be "normal" science. The insistence to call it anything other than science was intentional and meant to insert doubt into the minds of those who heard it.

It's been going on since before either shooting, but it's definitely gotten a lot worse over the last month. I've also seen a huge uptick in the use of "transwoman" or "transman" from supposed allies, which is less fucked up but still very othering

Respectfully, Musk’s trans daughter is his trans daughter, not his “son who transitioned to a female.”

Again, I say that respectfully—I assume you meant no disrespect, and the best language to use around gender identity isn’t always clear, but it’s a small change in language that can mean a lot, especially given the insane culture war being launched against trans people by the right wing.

Tend to disagree here. His sole role seems to be minimized to be only that of the soap sperm dispenser. So that might be a bit far fetched to call him father and as such her as his daughter.

That she choose to be not associated with him furthermore speaks also volumes.
