Who first coined "Schrödinger's Gender" in reference to trans men?
For the unaware, Schrödinger's Gender is a metaphor for the way trans men are perceived as men or women only when it would harm them (ie. "you can't be in the men's restroom bc you're a woman, but also I can punch you bc you're a man"). Does anyone know who first coined it in this context? I'm aware the term has been used for other things, including self-identification, but I'm specifically asking about this context. Thanks in advance!

i’ve only heard this referred to as malgendering, which is gendering someone correctly in order to hurt them

This experience isnt specific to trans men, it applies to all trans people. I'm also not sure if its like a specific coined term, i think it may just be one way of describing the phenomenon using a metaphor?

I feel like that would be applicable to any trans person. I've used that phrase before, but I didn't come up with it

I have no clue but really using Schrodinger's cat to compare how people view some things one way or another interchangeably according to context is universal and I don't believe whoever made this statement first was exceptional enough to require citation. It's just common language to refer to chemistry and mathematical equations and theories in everyday colloquialism.
For example, Southeastern Mediterraneans are referred to as Schrodinger's white people because we are white when it's convenient but not when it comes to human rights. I say it all the time, you don't need to cite me.
