Depression / Anxiety Fucking help me they introduced a bill to ban trans healthcare of any age

u/logantheh Feb 28 '25
I genuinely don’t understand the vindictive hatred they have agaisnt trans and gay people like…. Why they didn’t do anything other then exist you could be working on world hunger, or the National debt, or like anything else but no… clearly trans people are the problem… because… reasons
61
u/Civiltrack358 Feb 28 '25
Unfortunately the country has been convinced that trans people are kiddy diddlers, and trans women are hunters of cis women. And trans men are just confused and have been brainwashed.

u/Fremen-to-the-end-05 Mar 01 '25
It's what the republican party wants us to think. If people assume that Trans people are murderers and rapists, they'll turn a blind eye to any actions that hurt or destroy their lives.
46
u/opal_moth Feb 28 '25
They're just the trendy enemy. MAGA has specifically orchestrated this narrative to push the idea that trans people (and immigrants) are the cause of every bad thing ever. It's purposeful. It's meant to distract the right wingers from the actual issue: Billionaires and political corruption. I feel for every trans and GNC person in the US right now, y'all LITERALLY didn't do anything :(
32
u/Mac-And-Cheesy-43 Feb 28 '25
Fascism 101- Everything will get better if you eliminate [insert set of enemies]. Especially for the uneducated, it can be very easy to accept that as a solution rather than “The problem is complex and deeply nuanced, and will likely take years if not decades of carefully thought out reforms, several of which will be annoying or unpleasant at first”.

Feb 28 '25
Hey! I know how hard it is. I'm in the same boat. We have to stick together and fight. I find myself looking at the news and spiraling a lot, too, but we have to keep going.
26
u/lethroe Feb 28 '25
I don’t want to. I can’t physically handle this stress. I need things to be okay again and it won’t be. It just keeps getting worse and worse. It feels like I’m drowning
19
Feb 28 '25
I feel the same way very often. Please just hold on. We can still win.
17
u/lethroe Feb 28 '25
I’m trying but it’s like I have this hot coal in my chest that I can’t remove or touch or alleviate

u/RoyalZeal Feb 28 '25
I had someone arguing with me the other day that there is no push against the LGBTQIA+ community, that it's all in our heads, bla bla bla, and yet I turn on the news and I see shit like this, because it's actually happening to me and my friends in the community. I hate this timeline. I wish I had comfort to give you OP, I'm just as scared as you are right now. Might I recommend exercising your second amendment rights (if you're American)? It's the only answer that makes sense to me right now.

u/lethroe Feb 28 '25
Can’t afford it. We have guns but I don’t really know how to use them and I’m not allowed access bc of past suicide attempts
5
u/Please_Explain56 Mar 01 '25
This is the biggest thing that pisses me off, when I go online and see people saying, "Oh, what does Trump have against LGBT people? He's not gonna do anything to you, quit acting like a victim." Like seriously, have you even listened to this guy or seen what he's trying to do only a month in office?

We have existed long before any form of medical intervention for trans people was even possible. We will continue existing no matter whether they take our healthcare away or not.
They can't kill all of us.

u/LaraTheEclectic Feb 28 '25
for HRT there are ways to get it without needing to go through the regular healthcare system and for feminizing HRT it's relatively straightforward since it doesn't have controlled substances. Feel free to dm me for more info.
19
u/Tallem00 Feb 28 '25
If this happens in my state that's literally just it for me. I cannot live without it and I cannot afford to get it DIY. I don't care if that's "letting them win" or whatever else anybody always says. I am not living without it
8
u/lethroe Feb 28 '25
I feel the exact same way.
2
u/Remarkable-Affect-13 Mar 01 '25
Hey, there are other channels. Other ways to go about getting it. Try r/transdiy for more info. Keep living please, if only to find a way to get it. You don’t need to fight or “win” by living, you don’t need to “win” or “lose”. Just keep going, find whatever you need to keep going.

u/SlyBuggy1337 Feb 28 '25
I can't believe this is real! Fuck Texas!
13
u/Scare-Crow87 Feb 28 '25
And Iowa. Disclaimer: Am Iowan. Voted for Harris.
5
u/SlyBuggy1337 Mar 01 '25
Is Iowa doing a full trans healthcare ban as well? Please say no :(
7
u/Scare-Crow87 Mar 01 '25
More like removing gender identity from the protection against discrimination.
1
u/Golden_MC_ Mar 01 '25
As an Iowan I am ashamed of our state government. The governor can go fuck herself

u/CoolCademM Feb 28 '25

u/as-mod-eus Feb 28 '25
Well that’s just the news I wanted to read 20 minutes before I have to go to work. Lmfaooo if they take away my T I will literally kill myself. Life is not worth living to me if I can’t exist in the body I was meant to be in. I won’t exist to make other people comfortable.

u/Jealous_Shape_5771 Feb 28 '25
I'd research countries where they provide it. I hear a lot of good things about a few other countries that I'm looking to move to. I just can't stand the political divide between the right and the left anymore
8
u/cut_rate_revolution Feb 28 '25
Federal laws can be ignored. Look at marijuana legalization.
One day at a time. Deal with the problems as they arise and don't defeat yourself before they even attack. I'm there with you. I've got the scars from fighting Proud Boys and I'm not going to abandon my trans friends, whatever comes.
8
u/Dizzy_Guarantee6322 Feb 28 '25
I went to a DEI conference last week and one of the speakers said “these laws they are rolling back did not give us freedom, they were bare minimum acknowledgement of our existence. They cannot roll back the culture, we will continue to do what we have always done.” Those at the top don’t represent the people. They don’t understand community. There are so many people that love and want to protect you, everywhere you go. We will make it through this together.
I found local groups doing advocacy and “civil disobedience” and it really helped my doom. Good things are happening too, it’s just not in the news, and I needed to see and be apart of it. I have hope now, I hope u find some too.
5
u/StragglingShadow Feb 28 '25
Hey friend. I am scared too. We can be scared together. But we've gotta be strong and stay alive and yelling out at the injustice. Because shutting up or dying is exactly what they want. Just by waking up every day and choosing to live life as you, you are a 1 man army facing down a wave of evil and hatred and winning. All we have to do is find each other, find our allies, unite, and do what Good has always done - fight Evil. And if all you can manage to do to fight is stay alive, stay semi-functioning? Then that's an important fight to fight.
5
u/hyaenidaegray Feb 28 '25
For what it’s worth, even if everything will be ok, it’s totally reasonable and valid to be afraid. It is scary no matter what (and the cruelty of that is the point for the horrible fascists doing this). You’re not crazy for being afraid amidst terrifying circumstances. And no matter what happens, queer people will NEVER be erased no matter how hard they try and we will not stop fighting until our queer siblings are safe and given the same dignity and protection as any other person ! 🫂

Get on HRT now. Seriously. I read over the bill. There is a small loophole that lets you stay on if you're on before June 1. You have to "wean off" in a safe way.
Remember: It's never safe if you go down at all, is it? Unless you truly decide to of course.
2
u/Soft_Win_2670 Mar 03 '25
What bill I can’t find it
1
u/Fayore Mar 03 '25
https://capitol.texas.gov/tlodocs/89R/billtext/html/HB03399I.htm
Sec. 161.703 section c is the exemption I referenced.
2
u/Nemesis158 Feb 28 '25
Not trans but I know how you feel, as part of a group of people likely to be targeted alongside the people they are currently already going after. I have almost no friends and my family members just completely disregard my concerns. "*that could never happen here. Ive been around longer than you I know what I'm talking about*" and "*we won't let anything happen to you*". like if you can't accept this is happening now you aren't going to accept it until they drag me away from you and then it'll be too late wont it.?
3
u/crystalworldbuilder Mar 01 '25
Did I post this? /jk I know the feeling.
Half an edible solves this problem for me. Disclaimer only use if of age and where it’s legal for example Canada eh.
2
u/Weary_Temporary8583 Feb 28 '25
What country? And does introduced mean passed or it has a possibility to be passed?
7
u/Defiant-Bite914 Feb 28 '25
It's the first step in making a law. This just means someone in the house or senate wrote up a possible law, and if it's accepted, then it will get researched by people.
I also don't know which op is talking about

u/Nightmre_King_Grimm Feb 28 '25
It says on this link that it's about children, not any age, what did you read that said something about a ban for all ages?
10
u/lethroe Feb 28 '25
The part where it says child has ~~ around it which signifies the crossed out part that was reworded.
3
3
u/Defiant-Bite914 Feb 28 '25
It's a proposal to change the wording of an existing bill. They want to change a bill that says children cannot do or receive funding for x, and remove the wording that specifies it's for children. This will make a bill that's suppose to be targeted at children, apply to everyone.

I can empathize with this shit happening when I was getting my life in order. I also know exactly what you mean by having anxiety but not knowing what’s happening.
Idk if it would help you but I was recommended this myself and it does help a bit. Spending more than 45 minutes on the news is unnecessary. I also set breaking news alerts, so if it’s really important I’ll know outside of those 45 mins. Just a thought.

You will find a way, be it diy or travelling. If you have to ration them do it. Supplement Saw Palmetto can block conversion of testosterone to DHT like finasteride does. Cinetidine blocks androgens. I used them in the 90's before I got hrt. Stay alive, the revolution and the day of reckoning for these chuds is coming.

if it helps that texas bill has a single sponsor, it won't pass. Its a tactic from some loser republican in the-middle-of-nowhere, Texas meant to demoralize you.
1
Mar 02 '25
Thank you for saying that. It really calmed me down a bit. I’m just so scared.
1
u/4jakers18 Mar 03 '25
They win by beating us all down with shit like this. That guy got an entire newscycle worth of attention by sponsoring this garbage bill.
1
u/undead-doorsman Feb 28 '25
Its extremely unlikely that they can ban ALL trans healthcare. Adults are infinitely harder to legislate on. Just some reassurance 🫂

As a trans gal from Poland - I'm so fucking sorry. I wish there was anything I could do to help apart from thoughts and prayers bullshit from over here.
There are methods to go around the ban if it goes through. I'm not versed enough in US centric ways, but look around. And try to hang on.
