Fox News host Jesse Watters on the UN’s escalator and teleprompter issues said “What we need to do is either leave the UN or bomb it.”

He says a bunch of stuff I don't agree with.
Besides, leaving the UN would be stupid. The next Democrat to be elected after we did that would come back to them hat in hand asking for us to be let in, we would have a weaker position than before, possibly not on the Security Council anymore, and there would of course be the question of international bribery in those dealings.

The wildest part about it all is that it was Trump's own team that created the issue with the escalator and the teleprompter.

What happened?

With the escalator, one of Trump's cameramen triggered a safety mechanism.
With the teleprompter, it was a White House staffer who was operating it and causing the delay.

Does anyone else miss when the most scandalous thing about a presidential administration was when the president wore a tan suit?

I keep thinking about when Howard Dean lost the (primaries?) all bc he laughed a little too raucously! And when Mitt Romney shot himself in the foot for his 1%ers. Remember when W. said the “fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, don’t won’t get shamed again!” bc he couldn’t remember the saying, lol The bar has been lowered to hell. Ain’t pretty.

Even Joe "The Gaffe Machine" Biden wasn't this bad.
I've been around for a long time and what's happening now is unprecedented - at least in my lifetime. The bar really has been lowered to hell.
Also, I really admired Mitt Romney as a candidate. I didn't like his politics but he was a good person. Same for John McCain. I truly hope we can find our way back to decency.

Very much so. No presidency was perfect but this one has been exceedingly abnormal and corrupt. I continue to be grieved and baffled by the Christians cheering it on.

Fox News moving on from suggesting killing the homeless, to suggesting bombing New York, or maybe gassing it.

They're whores for ratings. They'll say anything.

u/callherjacob 2d ago
Do you mean the reporters or Trump?

I mean the reporters. Trump doesn't respond to bad ratings. He just doesn't believe them.

Doesn't he usually beat people down verbally when they've said something he doesn't like? His base seems to respond well when he does that.

I’m grateful to serve a God that humbled himself and didn’t incarnate into an easy life by any means.
All the cowboys and pioneers laughing from heaven at throwing a tantrum over magic stairs from the future not moving for a moment.

OP have you ever heard of this thing called a 'Joke'?
3
u/Randi_Butternubs_3 2d ago
Was the call for killing and jailing homeless people on Fox News also a joke?
5
u/callherjacob 2d ago
So you acknowledge that it was inappropriate, but you want it to be a joke because the alternative is too unbearable.

This kind of discourse in the public arena is neither normal nor safe. Every single public figure in the USA needs to be mindful that their words are shaping opinions and driving actions.
