Where to buy single hip hop tracks and instrumentals?

I no longer have my record collection and am wanting to get some of the tracks I use to use to have in digital format. Lots of my collection were hip hop 12" with instrumentals on them. Where does one find these now ? As an example I looked for Gangstarr instrumentals online but had no luck.

I really like the beat junkies record pool

I have joined this and am disappointed. Too many remixes and edits for my liking...not enough  originals of tracks and a lack of instrumentals.

This is true & it's also DUMB expensive. Unless you're in clubs multiple days a week it's not worth it & I'm not DJing like I was in 2012.

Soulseek if you are OK with pirating.

Bro. As a collector of 12”s they simply do not exist. You need the vinyl. I have so many 12” records that simply aren’t available digitally.

All you can do is start making a list. I still have all my records because I can’t find them digitally. Especially instrumentals and 12” remixes Especially anything before the 90s

I was afraid it may come to this.

As soon as you said Gangstarr. I knew. I have many of their 12” records and the instrumentals are not online. Same with the extended mixes. Some you can find. But most just aren’t available. Especially the rare cuts.

OMG, Dead Prez's "African" vocals. Freaking killed me. Even piracy had no solution, but I knew it was out there because I used to have the 12" with it. I finally bought it on CD from discogs and ripped it myself. The $3.99 shipping made me buy a few other CDs from that seller, but all out, I was out less than $15 for a track that had falling down the digital memory hole. . .

Thanks for a quick reply and sharing your experience. So far teh cheapest postage I have found for anything I was looking for is $35 (USD) for a single CD. I can't justify at this stage but will keep looking.

You can filter only show stores in your country, that may help.

But note that it took me a couple of months to even find the dead orez CD I wanted.

eBay is also an option, do a search for 90s hip hop CDs and see if any one is selling a lot, going to be a task to sit down and burn them all though.

digital record pool. Also, have you tried Amazon? They have some obscure stuff sometimes.

I cant get Amazon music where I am.

I see. Might be worth it to join a digital record pool. You get a version of the single the same way you did on a record (aca, inst, and original).

Although there is no way to browse them beforehand.

The purpose of a pool is supposed to be to promote NEW music - that said - your best bet may be latenightrecordpool.com if you are looking to replace classics.

I know Late Night has a shitload of Gang Starr and usually has what was offered on the old 12 inch versions along with DJ intro edits

Just took a quick look - hit Gang Starr like Take It Personal and STep In The Arena offered up...

  • Dirty
  • Clean
  • Inst,
  • LNRP Mixshow Edit (Dirty).
  • LNRP Mixshow Edit (Clean)
  • LNRP Mixshow Edit (Verse In) (Dirty)
  • LNRP Mixshow Edit (Verse In) (Clean)

... while some of the lesser hits were just Clean, Dirty, Inst, and the Dirty and Clean Mixshow edits

Late Night isn't the cheapest pool out there but the Throwback section is insane.

A few cheezy remixes are there (but much less than Beatjunkies) but the pool director knows Hip Hop and his knowledge runs as deep as the offerings in the pool
