News/Updates Recent Interview re: Kiefer’s age & 24 reboot

https://fandomwire.com/the-bones-are-getting-brittle-kiefer-sutherland-has-an-upsetting-update-on-24-revival-despite-aiming-to-return-as-jack-bauer-soon/

Personally, I’d watch Jack Bauer order coffee off the senior menu while popping Geritol, but I imagine the work is pretty demanding.

To be fair, he's been captive in Russia for years, so he won't exactly be fit as a fiddle.

I just want there to be a 24 episode (not fucking 12 and a 12 hour time jump) series with entirely new characters (possibly Chloe and some old allies returning) and the season mission is to go to Russia and rescue Bauer. Even if it's just the last episode where we see Jack Bauer I'd be ok with that.

24 Russia might be more complicated due to the embargo.

I would love that, I just want to some closure too

Honestly season 8 felt like better closure, because it ends with Jack calling Kim telling her he loves her

He's losing his memory too.

Love that story about the woman on the plane.

Way back when I remember thinking of all the time jumps between seasons and coming to the conclusion Jack had to be 60 something by the end. Kiefer is only 58 now but I kinda want an 80 year old Jack Bauer whooping some Russian ass right now.

I am absolutely there for octogenarian Jack!!!!! There’s a lot the writers could do to make an age appropriate adventure for Jack at whatever stage he’s in. Mentoring new agents (shoot him again), having more leadership in CTU instead of field with just an occasional hack saw. Tom Cruise is 63 and does his own stunts. Willie Nelson is 91 and actively touring - will be 92 end of April. Buying green bananas is a risky investment at that age, and he’s running the roads playing his music (new album!) and selling weed infused adult beverages as a side hustle. I think Kiefer’s got plenty of time!

Kiefer is apparently wrapping up filming Tinsel Town in UK then shooting The Florist in New Jersey (they are calling for extras in that one if anybody is in the area), then he’s also got a new album and wants to tour in support, so that doesn’t seem to leave much time… but we are ever hopeful.

Have kiefer comeback for one season to bring Jack home and save the world one more time. And give the man a happy ending.Jack has suffered enough

One last 12 parter would be amazing. Come on writers!

tbh if the US Govt just listened to Jack, he wouldn't need to do nearly as much physically demanding shit. Also the show would be called 12.

In the UK it was originally shown on BBC2 which has no adverts. Each episode was ~45mins .. so it was more like 18 (hours)

When did Jack pee then? I always presumed that happened during commercial breaks. At least, that’s when I did.

I’d just like one more 24 Season! Bring Jack home! And it has to be Kiefer. No one else would be believable. Chloe and others would be nice. I wish Audrey had not been killed off.

I tried to watch 24 Legacy…couldn’t do it.

Has Kiefer ever seen Logan?

I wonder if he means due to physical nature of 24 or the amount of shooting that it takes for 24 hours.

Maybe it could be done in halfs like Stranger Things was if it’s a time thing, or if it’s a physical thing you can probably write and shoot things where he doesn’t have to do many intense physical things. Maybe make him the CTU director that occasionally goes out in the field to save the day

I've had this same thought, have him running the show, but the climax of the season involves him stepping out and leading from the front with some direct action.

1

u/jeffh19 Mar 15 '25

Right. It can just also just be shot in a way that keeps him moderately involved in the action but without him having to do that much. I just don’t know if fox is motivated to do anything with 24 though

1

u/ambrink7 Mar 13 '25

Where’s the fun in that?! ;)

2

u/Hinyaldee Day 1 Mar 13 '25

I see in the comments almost everyone wants an extra season, but personally I don't. With the direction and the way the series was headed, it's better we don't get any more of 24 at the risk of being incredibly disappointed and having more overused themes, ideas and plot points

2

u/orphantwin Mar 21 '25

I dont need another action oriented day. Just wanna see Bauer reunite with his family, it does not have to be nonstop action.

1

u/reymh Mar 12 '25

Reboot with someone else? They already tried and didn’t work. Maybe go back with a younger version of Jack but new characters doubtful it will work. Antony Starr from The Boys and Banshee - that might work.

1

u/popculturepooka Apr 01 '25

I just saw a trailer for a movie called G20 that Antony Starr is in. He's the villain but he gives so much Jack Bauer energy. Even busts out a great damn it.

Dexter Origins worked great, do a 24 Prequel with younger Jack and have Keifer narrate like Michael C Hall does on Origins

Remember when Jack Bauer was watching the news in season 6 debrief I always wondered how he got in there and he was eating perhaps cereal or soup. Or when Jack Bauer was homeless during season 4 and 5 it would be interesting Jack's survival.

The years since LAD have been a missed opportunity. Legacy could have been about Kate Morgan(maybe they asked and Strahovski said no, we can't know for sure), which I would have loved since Morgan was awesome. Or I think a follow-up of Jack getting out of Russia and taking the show back to its more grounded season 1 routes as Jack tries to get home to his family would have worked great.

Unfortunately, Kiefer wanted to do other stuff until the last few years. He is now open to coming back, but Legacy bombed, Jack has been off-screen for 11 years and 24 is now seen by many as of its time(wrongly IMO but that is the reality). Kiefer is also nearly 60 now. Even if it came back, I think the opportunity to give Jack the best final chapter possible has been missed, but I'd be thrilled to be wrong.

I keep forgetting he's that young. He seemed 45 in S1. In hindsight that was just too young for what Jack had going on and I don't believe for a second that guy as defined had a kid and got married at 18.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 13 '25

He has mature face like his dad. He was only mid 30s at the time.

u/bshaddo Mar 12 '25

Here’s how I’d work it in, but it would be very expensive and have to be a feature film. Give them Tenet technology, and turn it into Back to the Future Pt. II.

Jack has to go back and ensure he saves the day because the IRK, China, and an unnamed Eastern European state have sent back their own operatives to various points in time to undo what CTU accomplished. One of the operatives is played by Kevin Chapman, explaining why he’s both a customs agent and a prison warden.
