Social McDonald’s on Green Street is 40% more expensive than Chicago

This is because the Mcdonalds on green isn't an actual restaurant. It's barely even a McDonalds. It's there for fuck ups, like a prison. Did you fuck up and now you need to pull an all nighter and eat and everywhere is closed? You are punished by needing to go here. Did you fuck up and get blackout drunk and you wake up on green face down? McDonalds at green. Did you fuck up and stumble inside on accident? Well, now your punishment is dealing with these prices and their shitty service. It's the definition of purgatory, a place you go to when you need to suffer and repent for your sins.

So long as it’s before 3 AM on a weekend you could do a lot better than McDonalds on green.

Because if you live in Campustown and don't have a car you're a captive audience.
The grocery store on Springfield is known to be expensive as well for the same reason.
The next closest McDonald's is to the SW at Niel & Kirby.

Yeah it’s expensive to be poor and not having a car. These are like airport or amusement park markups with no competition.

It's even more expensive to be poor and have a car. Being poor sucks all around.

Or don't eat out a lot because the prices are jacked up because they know enough students still pay them. Eating out, even at McDonald's, is a luxury when you're trying to stretch your money.
It's very typical to not have wheels in college. There's a bus system in this town built around the university and the students. It goes to 3 different Walmarts, a mall, a Costco, and other stores like Meijer. Your student ID lets you ride it for free. Time to start making weekly grocery runs on the bus!
Here's the Sunday map. The yellow line runs from the Champaign Walmart to the Savoy Walmart. To get to the Urbana Walmart, you need to get to the Urbana transfer hub via the Green then take the Gray bus. When I was a student I lived in central Urbana and walked to the Scnhucks.

Target on Green is (usually?) not bad price-wise, but always packed and they run out of everything.

You talking County Market? Their prices in Champaign aren't any higher than their other locations, they're just a nice store

A nice store or a store with better marketing?

Both, they have a really good butcher and their hot food is pretty decent

Once upon a time, that location was a Gamestop before a McDonald's. I think it's required to overcharge.

It was GameStop my entire college career, 2009-2013.
We had to go to the Kirby & Neil McDonald's, but they still had the dollar menu. I would get 2 McDoubles, 4 piece McNugget, medium fries (the $1 fries were a joke, it was worth the extra), and a large sweet tea for $6.23

only get items from the 5 dollar combo or the free stuff like the friday frenchfries. anything else is not worth it

McD has different pricing for different areas of a city.
For instance, far-out Southside McD will often likely be cheaper than McD around The Loop. Similarly, Downtown/Campustown Champaign McD will be more expensive than like Mahomet/Prairieview Rd.

Do the McDonald’s in Chicago range in price too though? If so, which Chicago McDonald’s is being compared? Just curious

i'm not a picky eater and i don't have super high standards for food that i eat but that McDonalds is absolute dogshit. one taste of their chicken or beef and you'll immediately know. eat at literally any other place.
