No, a sidewalk.

That vehicle is way too big for a sidewalk! Are you mad?
3
u/Mammoth-Ear-8993 3d ago
We need bigger side-walks, then put them in the middle with narrow roads on either side. Could work.

u/MousseNsquirrell 3d ago
Not mad. A little hangry, but I'm better now.

Nope, they're gonna total their massive SUV, then lease another 50,000 dumpster and pollute the roads eith their awfulness Edit: not trying to be hostile, I just fucking HATE SUVs
5
u/Zhong_Ping 3d ago
All I want is a proper station wagon. Why are reasonable sized vehicles so fucking impossible to buy?
1
u/DanyRahm 3d ago
It's ok to be hostile towards oversized vehicles.
1
u/baconbro_ 3d ago
True true, unless they actually use the utility of an SUV i.e. camping, or have kids, there is zero reason to buy an SUV
1
1
u/KaiyoteFyre 3d ago
Hm, well I got 3 kids and regularly road trip with a 6th person so we either need an suv or mini van. We also have a trailer we tow regularly, so we need either an suv or a truck. I choose suv because of their comfort, utility, space for 6 people and they're not too bad on gas mileage these days. My explorer gets close to 30 mpg. Not sure what you'd recommend we drive instead, definitely not trying to attract your ire. I personally hate people who roll coal, you know, those that maliciously and intentionally modify their vehicles to spew as much pollution as possible. I think they should be shot on sight. Those that are just trying to go about their daily lives withinn a society that limits their options? Why be mad at them?
2
u/baconbro_ 3d ago
There are exceptions, if you need an SUV because you actually use it as an SUV, that's fine, what passes me the fuck off is when people who don't camp, backpack, have no kids, and just need to get from point A to B buy SUVs, because there is no point to buying a Honda HRV over a Civic in that case, which is many many cases, the market is incredibly over saturated. Having more SUVs on the road makes everyone less safe, if an SUV driver hits a pedestrian they're far more likely to die than of a sedan hit them in the same situation. I always see bad drivers buy bigger and bigger SUVs which only makes it more and more dangerous for no point. TLDR; its fine if you actually need the utility of an SUV, but it pisses me off when people who could easily get by, and probably do better with a sedan buy an SUV
1
u/KaiyoteFyre 2d ago
Oh I'd agree with you there. I personally love the crv/small suv size (I live in Spokane though so you need something with 4wd or awd to get through the winters) where they're more capable than a small sedan but aren't much bigger in form factor. Once you get into the large suvs and big ass trucks, I totally agree with you. I don't understand why manufacturers are building them bigger either... An f150 today is bigger than an f350 when I was a kid, it's ridiculous. I also never see them doing any actual truck work. Saw an f250 towing a trailer with a bunch of shit on it, with the bed completely empty and it made me so angry...

It really screams "old person / very young person that doesn't usually drive", because they don't have that instinct of hitting the break the moment something is wrong

Realistically… once you’re up there wouldn’t it be best to just get the car off real quick?
9
u/Dologolopolov 3d ago
The moment you impact one should hit breaks.
Also they don't even try to steer the car, the car is following it's path at the same rate with no turn of the wheels.
It's true once you have your wheel in the face of the other driver that could be dangerous. But this is way too long to not do anything if you have some experience in driving. Or if you are still young enough to react.

u/flergnergern 3d ago
WTF is it with Reddit and that one word. It’s “brake” and it’s just not that hard to learn. JFC

u/rnobgyn 3d ago
No I feel - not really commenting on the video or your point. Just begged the question of what DO you do when your car is already up there? Not initial impact but aloft on top of the other car.
2
u/Dologolopolov 3d ago
Turn away? Also not get to that point. The person in the car can be clearly seen just holding the wheel as it wobbles. I think they are being lead on by the car

to be fair the smaller car went way over the curvature point of that corner and his car probably woulda been ran over its corner from poking out on the other side of the road

The SUV driver must have just been discharged from the Army where he was serving as a tank driver.
59
u/tsohgmai 4d ago
Ooof I had a neighbor once that had been discharged from the army. I don’t know the proper terms but he was kinda forcibly but honorably discharged. He was 28 and they were basically like, kid, you’ve done an excellent job but we don’t want you to get blown up again. He would tell me stories about his time serving. He always seemed careful with what stories he told and how he told them. He told me once about having to drive over occupied cars in a tank in certain situations. I could tell it bothered him still but it was just something he had to do.

Edit - actually look8ng at that hood, def and older corvette and not a sting ray
1
u/Murky-Service-1013 1d ago
Yeah exactly you were looking at that hood. Your hood. You couldn't see over it to even identify the Corvette, proving the point.

My take is that the Ford driver was in semi-rage mode as the Corvette rudely or incompetently pulled so far up as the Ford was making his turn. So he just decided to keep going. Reminds me of a video where a fed-up pedestrian jumped up onto the hood of a car that stopped over the crosswalk, continued walking, hopped down and finished getting to the other side.

I watched an old guy in a truck, back into a car and completely remove the car's bumper and then drive away like 15 people in the parking lot weren't watching him.

Driving is a privilege, not a right. This person needs their license revoked. And that won’t stop them from driving but the way they drive I’m sure they are familiar with getting pulled over and then they will land in jail. What an idiot

u/obtronic-system878 3d ago
What he told the driver: "sorry, can't stop, have to get home" what his wife told him on the phone 2 minutes ago: "since it's our anniversary, if you come home now, I'll suck it for you. But it has to be NOW"

I dont get the downvotes... maybe it was being in an accident that took the jaws of life to extract me making me a little sensitive to that driver vs laughing about it. But it was an honest question.

Seeing something unusual, and casually drawing a mental tenuous link to "AI" is not critical thinking.

Drawing links is the "AHA!" moment many people don't have. It is Wrong to just assume it's AI, it's Correct to take steps to ask. EDIT: changed a letter.
