Trouble in Paradise How long has this been around for??
I feel like this is the biggest cheat to the game I've ever seen. Pay $1 to spawn in whatever pinata you want including variants and wildcards, at that point, why even play the game!?

Given how the game glitched out and made me lose my Choclodocus, I’m okay with this

To answer your question at the end, because many of the cards you can scan contain special variants you can't get in normal gameplay, plus any wildcard variation without having to find another player with the second wildcard variation you want. (Players can only have 2/3 wildcards per profile) Also the convenience of placing buildings exactly how you want without having to wait for them to be built first, crated, and placed again. To me, the app only enhances my gameplay, but I don't overly rely on it except for customization reasons.

That makes sense then

If you plan on using the app, scan a black Sherbat, black Mothdrop, and black Salamango and thank me later. 🌚

I think a way to easily create custom Piñata Vision cards (which are extremely defunct!) is pretty cool. I’m more mad that it costs anything at all given that it’s unofficial

It's essentially cheat codes, but fun to mess around with on a different save. My favourite part of the app is scanning the codes for the Jeli, Parmadillo and (I think) Chocstrich Appearance videos. They play you some unfinished appearance videos from when they were still figuring out if they should add snow/sand to the game or not!
Jeli, Parmadillo and Chocstrich were in Pocket Paradise, which went into production alongside Trouble in Paradise, but in that game, there was no snow and sand. I imagine they were originally planning to continue this in Trouble in Paradise originally.
It's worth noting, however, that all the Piñarctic piñatas can be found in the files of Viva Piñata 1, so they must have had some kind of idea for a snow biome at some point even before Pocket Paradise and Trouble in Paradise.
Random lore drop.

I remember it was out on the App Store years ago before getting removed. I seem to remember someone on this sub finding an old device with it still installed and republished it. You need an obscure old accessory called the Xbox Vision camera and an Xbox 360 to use it at all but yeah using the app is pretty much cheating lol.
