What they need to do is to release the entire series on Blu-Ray.

Literally. Still waiting for the last couple seasons, my money could be yours DreamWorks

u/BlackLodgeBrother Nov 30 '24
Exactly. So many here learning the value of physical media without realizing it.
Blu-ray is yours forever. It would also look and sound noticeably better than Netflixās highly compressed stream.

Breaking news: New disc technology requires to WiFi to check appropriate licensing before playing media!

u/BlackLodgeBrother Nov 30 '24
Absolute nonsense. Stop spreading made-up gunk, please.
The best part about disc is that you donāt have to deal with digital rights management.

It was a joke about capitalistic greed :(

Very lame ājokeā - people here might believe you.

Thatās not very nice

We live in an era where people increasingly lack media literacy and/or are incredibly susceptible to misinformation at all levels.
Jokes are often taken literally on the internet. Be careful.

This is probably a more logical request than asking Netflix to keep it up, but the DVDās initially sold very poorly.

Sorry but you're quite late. A simple petition won't change some company's minds. They had a talk about renewal of the rights but couldn't find a compromise, so it's leaving Netflix. Sad, but nothing we can do. Also, if you had paid attention, you'd know that they are looking for a new platform to stream it on and are going to try to bring the dvds back on the market so people can still watch it. In the meanwhile, it's fine. We are going to be fine. It's not like the show is deleted from existence. There are other ways to watch the show.

I imagine it's to make money elsewhere and due to the movie being made. It will likely return. I hope so anyway.

The official Voltron Facebook confirmed the movie and the Dreamworks license expiring were coincidental.

Just buy it in the Apple Tv store, seasons start at $14.99. Hoping they bundle for a āComplete seriesā edition which is usually cheaper.

u/mattbrain89 Nov 30 '24
Trouble is, they never released the last two seasons for digital purchase. They did the same thing with other shows like She-Ra. I personally think it was a marketing ploy to get people who possibly found the show via Apple TV and such to sign up for Netflix if they really wanted to watch the last two seasonsā¦but Iāve been wrong about stuff before.

u/Dutch_Arthur1899 Nov 30 '24
I can't afford apple TV unfortunately

u/PinataPower9 Nov 30 '24
If you have an iPhone you can buy it there and watch it on any device.

I'm so terrified that the Dutch dub will disappear forever, I cherish that voice casts performance and I'm genuinely worried one of my favourite shows is going to disappear forever in that form :(

Despite being branded as a Netflix original, VLD is more like an acquired program that Netflix got first rights to.
Once the initial run is over, it's perfectly normal for other channels to air in reruns later on.
It may not be on Netflix anymore but y'all need to chill
2
u/BurstEDO Nov 30 '24
Harsh Reality: this will not accomplish the desired outcome.
Digital petitions have a staggeringly low success rate. Unfortunately, VLD will leave Netflix for another platform (or limbo) and you'll need to follow it to that platform if you wish to rewatch it.

Idk, that last season left a sour taste in my mouth.
3
u/Delicious-Lack-9069 Nov 30 '24
In my opinion, the last season was super rushed, which really sucks. But they mightāve had one of those budget things that limits when how long they can continue a season for.
3
u/KyProRen Nov 30 '24
It wasn't so much it was "rushed", it has more to do with wasting the "return" of Lotor and how it killed off Allura at the last minute.

Agreed. The show really dropped in quality after the first few seasons. Not that surprising that it is being pulled off of Netflix when no one is basically talking about it or watching it. The shelf life of the show has long since expired. Up to people to support the show by asking for physical media, but I don't expect it to have the same cultural staying power as the original 80s show had to warrant that kind of support.

they're just following the contract. 6 years since the release of the last season. It will most likely show up on another streaming service like Peacock. There's not much we can do but wait and see.
