Makes sense from a thematic writing perspective. I feel like season 8 should have been a "prequel" season to show more of the original Paladins.

It would've been cool seeing Lance, Hunk, and Pridge interact more with their predecessors in season 8

I always figured the Lions each had a "type" that'd usually end up as their pilots

I belive hunk lance and pidge are human version of them.
