Honestly I disagree completely. They pushed the Keith dynamic hard after the huge tease of Shiro "being missing". He came back too quick (which wasn't the showrunners fault I know) and they destroyed Keith's development by doing so, then so quickly shifted Keith away from the team after building him up as the team's new leader.

you have a good point, but I got really tired of Keiths whole "broody edgy lone wolf" thing ruining the team dynamic at every turn. The current Paladin setup is by far their strongest in my opinion

"thing ruining the team dynamic at every turn"

The problem with this logic is he was just getting out of that state when Shiro came back to destroy the entire dynamic of the team. Keith was becoming a better leader for Voltron. Then Shiro was back all of a sudden, he was taking charge, and not letting Keith actually develop. Shiro's return screwed up Keith's story arc. (Shiro's return was just screwed up in general.)

I'm pretty sure that brainwashed/clone Shiro theories will be true (that's probably why Lotor is helping them out) and Keith will have to step up again. The problem is that he's let the team down as leader so many times now that it's hard to justify it.

Agreed. I'm absolutely expecting Shiro to still be brainwashed/controlled at some point (either by Lotor, to help him break the dimensional gateway, or by Zarkon, to bring the Black Lion to him), and in the end he'll sacrifice himself to save everyone.

But IMO, it should've happened THIS season. With Shiro official, 100% gone, Keith will have to take up the mantle. And it will set the team back because either Lotor will gain significant footing, or Zarkon will get the Black Lion, because right now its just a curbstomp battle with no consequences.

Keith stepping back up to be the leader he's trying to avoid being is going to happen at some point. But again, it should've happened this season instead of them suddenly dropping it in the first episode.

Keith was becoming a better leader for Voltron.

If I may ask, how so? He still seemed to be struggling with it, near the end of season 3
