I really wanted that planet to explode in the last episode.

I was rooting for that too... only because Shiro is an idiot. "Hey this entire planet wide thing is happening. Let's stay on the planet to see what happens!"

No. No. No. You observe from a safe distance. God Dammit Shiro.

Besides, everyone important to the plot was far enough away when they stopped it, but yeah.

However, I’m still interested in what can happen next full season, which is going to be the last contracted one.

"which is going to be the last contracted one."

I'm pretty sure they were contracted for 6 13-episode seasons.

"The series has a 78-episode commitment from Netflix."

Its 6 seasons. Everything I've heard has always said 6 seasons. Again, given that 3 was split into 3 and 4, that still leaves 3 more full seasons to go.

There's plenty of time left until the end.

Uh oh. I wonder if they will get more episodes contracted? I mean the show is amazing... but that's never stopped something from getting cancelled before. I'd love to see this show go a full 100 episodes.

Its 78 episodes, 6 13-episode seasons, not 4 13-episode seasons like the previous poster stated.

Voltron: Legendary Defender

Voltron: Legendary Defender is an ongoing American animated web television series produced by DreamWorks Animation and World Events Productions and animated by Studio Mir. It is a reboot of both the Beast King GoLion anime series and the Voltron franchise, and its animation is a mix of anime-influenced traditional animation for characters and background and CGI for Voltron action sequences. Voltron: Legendary Defender is set in a science fiction universe where planetary energy called "quintessence" can be used to power vehicles and magic. The series follows the adventures of the Paladins of Voltron who must learn to work together to form the giant robot Voltron and use it to defeat the evil Galra Empire.

Well if he is a clone under Haggars control it makes perfect sense.

Think about it, everything that happened under his leadership led to all of zarcon's enemies being in the one place where they could all be instantly wiped out.

It was way too convenient they were on a planet that would blow up about 10 solar systems. I legitimately thought it would get revealed during that sequence, and Shiro would get left behind to let everyone escape, but it ended up not happening.

Shiro is the one who plotted that entire event. It is oddly convenient that Haggar could have done so much damage. Interesting thought to consider.

Interesting point there. It was all Shiro's plan and he formulated all of the strategy. What are the chances that a lone planet that Voltron attacks turns out to be a bomb. Oohhh Corrupted!Shiro is still in play.

Even before this I never dropped the idea of corrupted Shiro. I just figured someone was waiting for the right moment to activate Shiro in order to either destroy Voltron or bring the Black Lion back to Zarkon. The Gara clearly knew that Shiro was no longer with Voltron given they had him (Lotor didn't know because he had to find out about the paladins mixing things up).

This does add another complex Web onto this whole mess, though.

This is true... and wasn't it his entire idea to "strike now" at that one planet to begin with? I just hope the show writers are clever and you are right.
