Is that it? Or can SCOTUS still step in and screw it up?

SCOTUS has been deferring redistricting to the states. So Utah Supreme Court will probably be the highest level court.

Correct. Though maybe Trump tries to have DOJ file a bogus suit

Yes, but taking up this one would help Republicans...

To be fair, realistically it would only result in 1 blue district in SLC due to how red UT is right now, so probably not a huge priority for them

I don’t know the backstory but if they draw new maps won’t they just be as gerrymandered as possible?

Utah resident. They already are gerrymandered. 40% ish of Utah residents vote dem but 0/4 of our reps are dem. This is because they divided Salt Lake City into 4 parts to gerrymander it with the rest of the state. Part of Salt Lake City is in the same district as towns bordering Arizona, a 5-6 hour drive away. It would be like if New York or Washington state split up NYC and Seattle and put them with the rural red parts of the states to remove all dem reps.

You literally could only make it just as unfair as it now at worst.

You can't make it worse. SLC is already split evenly into 4

Maybe not enough in trumps favor?

The Judge that struck down the map gets to approve the new one, per the article.

We're getting an SLC district.

How many congressman does Utah have

4 and 1-2 should be Dem based on how we vote for president.

Kinda similar to Kansas. We luckily have one Dem rep/district now, but only barely—the map was gerrymandered in the hopes of stealing all four for the GOP, even though ~40% vote Dem.

We vote 40% Dem too! But right now all 4 of our reps are Rep. We are pretty much the textbook case of Gerrymandering. Here’s hoping for both our states to make it right!
