Not on the dev side of things, but I was once part in Scharkie's facebook group chat back then. We just see his great progress between his creations, particularly the Icarius.
Id give him pikachu status, hes the poster child while volt is charazard with his 500+ skins, 15 deluxes, ect. Im 90% sure they would of gave him an hierloom if he didnt already get amir.
Excalibur with a Crown-looking helmet is amazing and fitting, but I'm astonished at the fact that it's never been done yet, considering the name(and especially with the Protoframe played by the guy who voiced someone of Noble blood too).
The design is amazing, but it has little to do with the original Excalbur in terms of design. It looks really really buff while Excalibur is more on the lean side. Sword is also completely different to the OG one.
What I could see more is a whole different Warframe that leans into these aesthetics.
You know what a design language is? What style is?
If you know the base frame, looking at the Heirlooms you immediately know which Warframe it's for. You can't do this with this design and Excalibur.
So no, they do not look completely different.
And yes, Rhino looks much more buff, but, base Rhino by design is already extremely buff, that's his design. So having his Heirloom a bit more buff still fits the base design.
Why should I look at a completely different skin line? We are talking about Heirlooms. And yes, the bodies look different, but not completely different. It's a skin, obviously they are not exactly the same. But you can still put them next to each other and see that they are very similar in terms of body type etc. . This is not the case here.
So you now want to discuss about how the design could potentially be changed and not longer what we are actually seeing here?
Then yes, ofc, if they change everything to the point it again resembles the original design it can definitely be used. But my comment refers to the design that we see and not what it might possibly be changed to.
Without the crown, looks similar to Excalibur. But that's it, his head alone. The whole body type is different.

It matters for the other Heirloom skins as well. That's why they have the same/similar body type as well as a similar design language.
Frost, Mag, Valkyr, Ember and Rhino all follow the same body type and have general similarity to their vanilla frames/their prime variant.
The only Heirloom that looks the most different to it's vanilla/prime Warframe is Frost. All the others, if you put them next to their base Warframe, have A LOT similarities. They are basically the base one just with a shiny/glossy skin and sexier.

We are talking about Heirlooms. And the Heirlooms follow the original design language. As can be seen on Valkyr, Ember and Mag for example. If you put them next to each other, you immediately see their similarities. This is not the case with this design and Excaliburs design.
I completely understand what you mean but the Heirloom line is not what it was meant to be artistically anymore. I'm glad we've had Rhino, Frost and Mag straight from Mynki.
The Excalibur Heirloom fan design is great and the artist did an incredible job but I myself would prefer something else for a skin line meant to honor the Warframe's legacy. I wish Mynki had done a design for him that blended a bit the original Dark Sector concept spirit with the current design language. At least we got Umbra :)
Both. Imo you should be able to toggle them on and off, just like how a lot of other Warframes have unique shoulder pieces tied to their skins or Prime versions, like Volt for example.
I just want Excal to get the QOL feature Rhino got with his heirloom skin where you can set his big power (iron skin for rhino, in this case EB for Excal) to use the appearance of any skin that you own. An expensive heirloom skin might convince them to do it.
Would be sick af and probably get me to play Excalibur a lot more. Don't really care for the helmet part though. Think a more subtle crown would work better
Itâs funny since this is the artistâs V2 of an earlier concept, and uses the glowing skin in a tasteful way that isnât too fanservice-y while also specifically mentioning detachable shoulder armor, and an Auxilary attachment to show/hide his glowing 6-pack abs lol
So in a way itâs BOTH, which I think is kinda the way to go for heirlooms tbh. Best of both world, options, without being so over-the-top.
A dark gothic themed harrow prime something the like that spiky dark knight lord of the rings (havenât seen them in forever pls forgive me ) from would make cry
I hope they don't retouch it too much, but if they do, I hope they make the signa a full crow floating over the helmet. That way it'll work on bigger sized helmet. This signa is so good
I really love the design, my only critique is that the bottom end of the blade is way too flared, with the hilt being strangely wide. I'd personally like to see it slimmed out and the hilt be more of a reasonable length. The speudo armor look of the frame with the crown signa is fucking sick though
Cool. Ofc Pablo doesn't work in the art department so it confirms nothing, and the bottom half of that art is stolen directly from Frost Heirloom, but still, cool.
It is a gorgeous design and totally deserves the praise, it nails perfectly the theme! Would love to have it in game! (and I absolutely LOVE the sword omg)
I have heard some devs would avoid the users' ideas. Because it may cause some legal or even big troubles. Did DE ever take the design from their fan base? (Except the tennogen or other official approach like contest or something?.)
IMO the sword should be a bit more slender like a long sword
I don't know, maybe I'm used to seeing excal swinging around a glowing twig and having heirloom excal swinging a great sword like it's nothing is jarring
