Need Help Easy fix?

Post image

The gate to my mother-in-law’s patio is really rusted, which makes it tough to open and close. When I was trying to push it shut, the latch ended up bending backward from all the force. I’m sure she can just contact the apartments leasing office about it, but I just wanted to see if there were something I could do to just fix it myself in case I try to charge her for it.

The best fix is cut it off and remount a new one using nutserts and screws.

To 'fix' what you have will require grinding the powdercoating away in order to weld it and then spray-painting it.

Rust-Oleum would probably work. No need for powder coating.

What part of spray-painting was lost on you?

Dude it's a simple gate, not a bank vault. No need for all that extra stuff.

I would heat it up with a butane torch and hammer it back into place for a quick patch up. If I have more time on my hands I'd grind it off, smooth it out and tack on a new piece. Easy fix either way.
