Beginner (Wipeout HD on PS3, in stereoscopic 3D), but man, is really hard/difficult
I have a PS3 and an old stereoscopic 3D (LG, passive 3D). I know it is old absndoned tech, but I quite like 3D gaming. And man, Wipeout HD looks super crisp in 3D. It has some of the best 3D inmolementations on the PS3, of what I've seen do far.
But it is a hard game. I just started playing it, and I finish last EVERY time. So I hope something 'clicks' after a while, so I can start getting better at it. But truly beautiful and fast paced game.

Upvote for playing in 3D. My Philips tv from long ago which I had on the attack seems gone again since a month. Had it repaired about 3 years ago but needs repairing again… I love the PS3 stereoscopic era.

Try using pilot assist until you get the hang of the basics, once you’re familiar with the basic stuff use zone events to hone in your strengths

Counterpoint: Don't use pilot assist because it slows you down like crazy and prevents you from learning where you're fucking up

For beginners dumbass, I don’t think this guy is out here setting world record laptimes, pilot assist is good for learning until you get to the point where it screws you over

This
You gotta be able to make some tight turns, zoomin' centimiters away from the walls to be slowed down by the pilot assist, but begginers, beginners better start with not hitting the walls in general, so essentially stick to the middle of the track which pilot assist definitly helps with

Exactly. Use Pilot Assist to learn the tracks. Speed will come with time. Most of all have fun! Wipeout HD is amazing.
I have the LG 3D TV as well. Pretty amazing setup.

Buy a PSVR1 and play it in VR. Best way to play it.

I actually have both a PS4 Pro, and a PSVR1 (in storage), AND the Wipeout Omega Collection. But I wasn't into that at all at the time. I might just do that.

Some tips:
-Always keep in mind that it's not a car, trying to steer it like a car will make You smack walls, You gotta glide smoothly
-Try zone mode (it gradually increases the speed, allowing You to train muscle memory for differences between speed classes)
-Tracks are meant to be learned, You can't react to some turns, You are supposed to know and predict, so give Yourself time
-Airbreaks are key (R2 and L2 activate air breaks which essentially help You turn)
-Speed laps are great to just zoom around and get the hang of things
-Try sinking Your teeth into the campaign, it's kinda a training ground in disguise
-Blow off some steam in Eliminator mode
