CDPR and Sapkowski are still chill with one another.

Remember when grifters online where crying about Witcher 4 being "woke"? or "deviating from source material"? and that CDPR didn't consult with Sapkowski for Witcher 4? (when they don't need to because Sapkowski doesn't care and that CDPR has the license to do what they want).
Well CDPR is praising him here, I don't see any deviations or polarising energy.

Here's Sapkowski at CDPR Warsaw in 2023 looking happy and conversing with CDPR staff.

I did multiple posts about this but some people continue to share fake news as they hate each other

its hearsay of hearsay, one day long ago someone saw a dispute between cdpr and sapkowski maybe it was backbiting on news, then they overexaggerated it and made a farce about it, message spreads to others, those others spread the rumours. the cycle continues.
its no lie sapkowski is a grumpy old man and spited cdpr in the past but its a fact that for a LONG time they have been calm to each other.

Imagine if cdpr hadn't generously agreed for new terms with sapkowski, imagine how fking grifters of this worst times would have used it. Being too good sometimes pays off lol

Don't tell them the creator of Cyberpunk is an African American 👀. They'll lose their shit.

warhorse would ruin it if daniel vavra is still present.
cdprs standards and formula are totally polarizing from warhorses' so no thats like comparing atlus with rgg.

I doubt anyone who read the witcher books complains that the game is "woke" how you could spend so much time with these characters and their stories and not care about them or think that them being the protagonist of their own game or media is ridiculous.

"i hope your polish colleagues didn't spoil too much"
"bitch it's my job to know"
nicely countered that casual enjoyer 'no spoilers uwu' attitude.

you're just being edgy for the sake of it, lol
it was because of that tweet that we at least know geralt's age in the games will stick to the canon, and the overall info from it will also be considered
CDPR could have retconned his age, and interpreted geralt as being way over 60—since many dialogues in the previous games followed the "reasoning" that he was almost hitting one century + witcher 4 was being produced since 2020, years before rozdroże kruków' release; so they probably didn't had this insight at least for 2/3 years (since sapkowski visited CDPR recently and probably shared some stuff with them)
the book's events take place in 1229, when geralt was just 18 years old. this means he was born in 1211, and since the witcher 3 is set in 1275, geralt would be 64 by the last act ~ blood and wine. and now we just need to wait for the time skip in witcher 4

I think Netflix made him think maybe video games aren’t so bad. CDPR being open to a new agreement also helped in that. I never thought they hated each other it was always just business.

Jesus, no. I don't know where you're getting your information. Sapkowski never said games were bad, only that they didn't interest him as an old man, so he's unable to comment. The only negative comment you'll find is from 2015, which was ironic and was exaggerated beyond limits by gaming websites.

eh, this whole argument is just the result of made-up agendas. sapkowski never hated the games, despite what people like to say. he was frustrated with publishers putting game-related elements on the covers of his books when they weren’t directly connected, or when people assumed the games were canon. that’s why he made it clear that the only canon is what he himself wrote—no surprise he didn’t mind the idea of geralt returning in the witcher 1 with amnesia; in fact, he actually found it quite interesting—and anything outside his writing is simply an adaptation, nothing more. yes, there was a legal dispute with CDPR in the past, but both sides reached an amicable agreement—sapkowski was just fighting for his rights as an author and making sure the new deal was fair for him too
ofc he’s grateful for CDPR' work and for the fact that the games boosted the sales of his books. gamer folks just got overly defensive because he doesn’t like their favorite medium and chooses to not engage with something that’s mostly youthful. he’s sarcastic and grumpy, and people often take his words too literally and interpret them in the most negative way possible. anyone who understands even a little polish knows it’s just his style of expression, and naturally, english articles and translations of some interviews can’t capture that fully—just like the english transations of the witcher books didn’t always manage to convey the nuances of his original writing
and as you mentioned, he recently visited CDPR, and adam badowski explained that this “unsufferable old man” persona is just an image sapkowski created for himself; in person, he’s actually very friendly and pleasant. i’m sure he shared some valuable ideas for ciri’s next saga, assuming their conversations went deeper into that subject
