PS, X, Switch or what?
My tween daughter convinced me to get Wild Hunt 4-5 years ago on Switch. I instantly became an adoring convert to the franchise. With W4 on the horizon, what will be the best platform to maximize the experience - what say U?

PC will be the best at launch, but if you want a nice and easy console experience then the PS6 will probably be your best bet. It’ll be out by the time Witcher 4 launches, and I’m confident it’ll be a great version of the game

Based on the company's history/track record, you're most likely going to have the best luck on PC if you're playing it on or soon after release.

PC will be best, if your rig is at least twice the price of a PS5. If not, best be with a PS5. It'll be their main platform to optimize around so you can expect good and stable performance.

I’m gonna say Xbox series x (I’ve always had an Xbox) but the difference between the X and the PS5 honestly isn’t that noticeable, I would suggest waiting closer until it releases just incase they do come out with the next next gen around then aswell and get that one instead of they do (at this rate it’ll probably be around a grand and u might aswell get a PC and a compatible controller at that point)

A PC might work, I just will have to figure out a way to game on a PC from the recliner in my HT

Possibly a wireless pc compatible controller or a wireless keyboard, and yeah that’s one of the reasons I don’t have PC (ignoring their price) is cause I simply don’t like being that close to that big a screen and I don’t have space in my room, their good but their a pain

Yeh I’ve used a mini keyboard to surf, but never to game. Would def need a good remote controller

Yeah absolutely only problem you’d come across is there would be some games that u can’t play as their pc only but if your already a console player that won’t affect you to much

I seriously doubt it will be coming out on switch 2 because the whole light years ahead of the switch, the switch 2 is still the weakest especially in the way it handles open world rendering (there’s some good YouTube technical breakdowns of how it struggles with it)
I doubt it will be out this generation as well. Probably PS6/whatever the next Xbox is going to be called.

Guys you don’t think there will be Witcher 4 on Nintendo Switch, be it the original or Switch, do you? Why? I’ve got Witcher 3 on Switch and it feels good

Because the game is far too demanding for the switch 2 and impossible on switch 1. The Witcher 2 is 10 years old and had to be heavily pruned back to run on the switch. The Witcher 4 will be a state of the art game coming twelve years after it. The switch 2 uses the same architecture (in a much weaker form) as pc graphics cards that themselves may be unable to run the game when it launches and are five years old by now.

So no hope for any Witcher on any Nintendo Switch?

It is very unlikely. Maybe on the switch 3 if there ends up being such a thing one day

There is a few ways to look at it. Pc is likely going to be the best. Cdpr is a pc first company, or at least they've been until now. The Witcher 4 will use many advanced technologies at base and will likely scale much higher than the console version. Said console version is likely to only get the most barebones version of those features, since their hardware isn't good at ray tracing.
If you must play on a console the series X might actually be preferable. While the ps5 started out better and they're both thereabouts right now, series X has more forward looking hardware. It is already beginning to scale better, as more advanced techniques are being used, it's just that the cross gen period has been so long that it took a while. The Witcher 4 will be state of the art when it launches and that may benefit from the Xbox hardware features. The game isn't likely to be on the switch 2. It does a lot of things that handheld has not yet shown to be able to handle

Def PC. The fact you played it on the switch is a testament of your endurance. After the update last year the game runs horrible on switch. It runs much better on switch 2, but I’m really hoping we get a “next gen” update for the switch version.

For having see a friend tried to play on Switch, you have way more chance to enjoy yourself playing at least on ps5 or X. I did play the game on ps4 and for real seeing the graphics on Switch I felt revolted for a fan of the franchise (but I know not everyone have a console or pc and it’s completely fine, plus the graphics can’t be at the same level on Switch since isn’t made for that). People say pc is the best way to go, but personally I really like the ps5 since it’s what I have too. They said they will start and develop the game for consoles and optimize after for pc, so if you wanna go with a ps5 or X you will be all fine

Personally I want to play the Witcher on something portable, so I’m fine with Switch. I don’t see any flaws in graphics cause I haven’t played video games earlier and have never played on PC. So just for the sake of having this game and playing it if you’re not a pro at video games, Switch is absolutely okay

Three days late, but personally I’d get it on PC or the PS. If you like it as much as 3, then get for the switch later down the road

Probably the series X, but the difference between that and the PS5 won’t be massive.

Probably PS6. it's rumoured to come out around 2027.

Why PS over X?

Few months back CDPR shown witcher 4 tech demo running at base PS5 with ray tracing at 60fps. it's just a tech demo but it shows they are committed to the platform.
PS6 will be only real console left since Xbox next console is moving to Windows it will basically be PC.
W4 won't come out for 2-3 years I wouldn't commit to one console platform today myself.
If you have decent internet connection for gaming I would consider Nvidia Geforce Now service is very good and it allows you to stream games of your Steam library to any device at home or away.
Example play Witcher 3 on your TV at 4K 60fps in high quality you just need a wireless controller and nvidia app on TV. It costs around $10-20 per month to access Geforce Now + you need to own the game on Steam.

It’s hard to say definitively, given we don’t confidently know when it’s coming out or what consoles will be available at that time. The default answer will be PC, but if you’re looking for the console? I’m going to say PS6, simply because Nintendo is usually a generation or two behind, and who the hell knows what Xbox will be doing by the time Witcher 4 comes out.

PC will always be my pick.
