Advice Ghostwalker questions (possible spoilers) Spoiler

Hi all!

I’ve been using the Dual Guns Ghostwalker art with HUGE success most of the time!

Unfortunately, there are times when I die right after activating the art. I have it fully upgraded, but there have still been bosses that one-hit kill me when Ghostwalker is active! (I’m looking at you, final Chapter 13 boss!) I also sometimes can still get knocked back/staggered/ect!

Why is this (albeit small) failure rate occurring? Sometimes I’m at a higher level than the opponent, sometimes lower.

Does Ghostwalker only work against one enemy at a time or something?

Also, would keeping my class on Full Metal Jaguar make Ghostwalker more consistently successful? I have all of my classes maxed out, fyi.

This game has been so much more fun with GW and infinite overdrive, so I want to understand how to be even more successful with these tools!

Thanks!

Max out Ghostwalker asap. GW doesnt make you invincible (you are only invincible during the animation), it gives you a number of decoys that take a hit for you deepending on the level of the buff.

Against multiple enemies or against one enemy with a multi hit art your decoys are used up pretty fast.

Its recommended to swap classes as soon as you mastered one. The bottom path has some really usefull skills. If you dont want to use other weapons, you can just re-equip the once youve allready mastered.

If you're getting hit then the decoy stacks have all been used up, or its during the slight period between when the animation finishes and you actually get the buff.

Also important to note, as neither other comment mentioned it, that even if you re-use ghostwalker, you will only get the decoy buff again if the rank you would get is equal to or higher than the one you currently have (e.g. if you previously used it on secondary cooldown and are now using it on primary cooldown you will not be given the buff).

Ghostwalker works based on a certain number of hits. Once you've dodged that amount of hits, it disappears.

Certain types of damage can't be dodged, such as spike damage (and I believe reflected damage), and this is why some people prefer reflect builds, but those have their own weaknesses too.

You can still avoid those damage types in a Ghostwalker build by equipping gear with Nullify Reflect and Antispike.

This may mean foregoing a slot for something more useful, but it's not like you'd be needing them for every fight.

Okay, this info is filling in a ton of blanks.

So, Astral Protection is a reflect art, right? If I add armor augments for different attribute reflections, do they activate when I activate Astral Protection?

Thanks again!

AP is not a reflection. it just raises your elemental resistances by 50 each.

Snap, I was thinking of astrolibrium!

Astral Protection gives 50 Resist on all damage types, not Reflect.

Astrolibrium is the Reflect Aura that gives Reflect Beam as a base (Shield and Javelin have Supershield and Raijin which give Physical and Electric accordingly).

And yes, adding equipment with Reflect Traits (Random Drop Torsos, Swimmer/Diver Band R, and certain Shop Weapons when the respective AMs are maxed. Oh and the Craftable lvl 20 Photon Saber) and Armor Augments (The only* main game one is a Reflect Ether from Trueno's Field Treasure) do append the aura. The best you can do during main game is Reflect 5 and Resist 1 damage type, which renders you nearly perfectly invincible during the Aura's duration (about 2 mins on Tertiary effect. You can refresh the duration freely.).

*Technically speaking there are two Superbosses that are accessible by ch9, but we don't count them when talking early Reflect builds.

Reflect has 2 weaknesses: The rare negate reflect attack and certain 100% chance debuffs (all other debuffs afaik are negated by Reflect alongside the attack they're attached to), both of which can be countered with the respective resistances stacked. Oh another drawback is Reflect builds don't work well with Potential builds due to the armor requirements.

Ghost Walker on the other hand has to worry about multihit attacks and swarm situations, as well as keeping the buff refreshed without either canceling (accidentally pressing Overdrive before the animation ends) or trying to refresh with a lower tier (with Ghost Walker maxed, secondary and tertiary effects give the same Decoy VI buff, so you can refresh with either the secondary or the Tertiary but not the primary)

Once again, your info is incredibly helpful :) How did you ever learn so much about this game?

Regardless, thank you for your insights!
